I started my Civic and went to back out of my parking spot and it just died. It wouldn't start back up again. When I go to start it - it turns over but isn't getting spark. I had my sparkplugs and wires all replaced previous to this problem and it drove fine. We replaced the ignition coil, the cap and rotor, and the ignition module. It still isn't getting spark. We also noticed that when we turn the key to 'On' the check engine light doesn't come on. The car is showing 159k miles, but the speedometer suddenly quit working 6 months ago. Anyone got an idea?

if your not getting spark then your coil is the mostlikely cause it's obviously not a timing issue since you stated that the rotor is spinning. if the spark plugs are bad then replace them too . to be sure that your getting spark to all cylinders test each of the spark plugs after replacing the coil. just to besure it's not starving for fuel as well spray a little ether in the breather if it fires off right away that means the even though your fuel pump works it may not have a high enough pressure. let me know the results

Could be the ignition coil or ignition module. Also check the ignition fuse.

the only thing that is related is the d4/rough gear changing
speed/ rpm malfunction is caused by your speed sensor on the trani (common problem) change it

how does the engine sound while turning over does it sound normal is the timing belt still intact. if the timing belt is still intact and the engine sounds like it don't have any compression replace the plug but before installing new plugs get a qt of oil and pour about 1 or 2 caps full of oin in each cylinder this will help build the compression and hopefully it should start if it does it will smoke a few minutes but will be fine.
