I have a 1999 town & country limited edition some times i can put my key in the ignition and it will start just fine other times my key will not turn at all.
First make sure the steering wheel isn't in the lock position, putting pressure on the ignition switch. if that is ok, get the key cylinder replaced asap before it quits completely. (harder to change a that point) what condition is the key in? maybe try fresh one.

The Ignition Key assembly has a loose wire at the back. Remove it and fix the wires. The other possibility is that your Ignition Key assembly is faulty or damaged. Sometimes, if the wrong key is inserted, it could cause permanent damage of this kind.
These apply to all cars.
The tumblers inside your ignition switch are probably worn and dirty. You can try cleaning and lubeing the switch. Also your key could be worn. If you have another key try that too. Good luck, i hope this helps.
It is possible that your key is warren out. you could have a different key made ,some times it can take a few times to git it right, if the key is badly worn out,but give it a few tries .if all fails you will have to replace your ignition tumbler's [key lock cylinder] if after trying the key ,please feel free to check back, ask if you have any further questions, Thank you.
if the key wont turn you can try this a locksmith showed me spray key hole with a small amount of wd40 put key in take the wooden end of a hammer handel and tap end of key not too hard.sometimes this will work until you can get fixed
we had the same issue with ours a few weeks back, i was prepared to remove the key assembly. i started disassembling the steering column and removed all the trim, and while removing all the trim and the lighted key ring from the switch, i noticed a small pin on the side of the keysitch housing, if you put your key inot the switch and try to turn it, this pin moves in and out as the key is turned, ours wouldnt budge, or was stuck. i pressed it a few times with a small screwdriver, and sprayed it with some trusty wd40, and walla. it now works fine. would probably tak you about half hour to fix if you wanted to try what i did, if not then you may need to call a locksmith. i hope this helps, although you may have a different problem than we did.
I'm assuming that the vehicle has an immobiliser system standard, and that the key has a chip in the head of it. The key itself could be intermittently faulty, or the pickup ring at the ignition barrel. The best option would be to get a new key cut and coded to the vehicle, and just try it. If the fault reoccurs, it's likely that it will be the pickup ring, but it probably needs further diagnosis at that point.
