2003 cadillac cts coolant temperature sensor

Why ? Temp gauge not working , cooling fans not working ? Is the check engine light lit an you have a coolant temp. sensor code ? The coolant temp. sensor is a input to the PCM/ECM - engine computer . If bad would turn on the check engine light. Trying to save you money an time replacing a sensor that may not need replacing .

It would have to be on a scanner to see if the PCM is sending a signal(most likely is, other gauges working). Instrument panel gauges do go bad. And they can be replaced.

this sensor is located on the breather line entering into your throttle body , as it measures the temperature intering the throttle body and manfold so that your computer can adjust for proper fuel efficiency and operation ,,,,,good luck !!

First off who ever said $400 to change a thermostat is trying to rip you off. The actual part is like $20 bucks max and its so easy to change. I can guide you through it if you would like.

The P0128 code is Coolant Thermostat Malfunction.

These are the possible causes for this code:
- Insufficient warm up time.
- Low engine coolant level.
- Leaking or stuck open thermostat.
- Malfunctioning engine coolant temperature sensor.

These are the possible quick fixes:
- Top OFF Engine Coolant
- Replaced Thermostat

A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

1-Low engine coolant level
2-Leaking or stuck open thermostat
3-Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
4-Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
5-Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor

Check coolant level Check to make sure thermostat is functioning properly Check the Cooling fan Check the ECT sensor Check the IAT sensor If all else fails replace the thermostat

it is on the left side cylinder head...about mid way...between number 2 and number 4 Ignition coils...but lower...below but not under valve cover.
