98 Jeep Wrangler door handle won't open door

Inside door handle does not open the door, but outside does (on driver's side)...apparently a plastic bar inside the door is broken...what is this called and can you repair just that part, or do you need to buy a whole new inside door handle?

Thanks,
Jessica

There is a metal bar inside that clips into the handle they come off all the time there is a plastic clip that hold the 2 together it most likely has fallen off and into the bottom of the door you can put it back together easily if clip cannot be found you can buy them at local parts store for a couple bucks..hope this helps

97 Mercury Mountaineer driver side door won't open. Outside handle flops around; inside handle won't open door

Try a slim jim first, down the side of the window. Or AAA or locksmith. If no luck, remove the seat first. Find the screws and bolts around the door handle and arm rest. Most Ford's have screws around the outer side of the panel. I don't believe your's does. The panel lifts or pops off. Once the panel is off, you can reach down and open the door. Just a note. I have done some to where the panel came out in pieces.

The inside door handle won't open door from inside outside door works fine it's on drivers side 2006 ford fusion selv6

It sounds like the connecting rod popped out of its plastic connector. Pull the door panel off and check both ends of the rod. It must be unhooked at one end or the other.

I need a diagram of the locking mechanism in my 2001 nissan sentra so that i can use a slim jim to unlock the passenger side door.

I don't have a diagram of the door but if you slip the slim Jim in over the top of the outside door handle it should catch on the latch bar. If you are doing this because the door won't open from the interior handle or the outside handle the problem most likely isn't the lock. The way that handle connects to the release it is held in place with a piece of plastic that breaks fairly easy. If that piece breaks the interior door handle won't activate the unlock function when pulled and you will have a heck of a time getting the door opened so you can get inside the panel to do the repair.

Remove the inner door panel and check to make sure that the linkage rod that goes between the outer handle and the latch is connected. It's possible that the plastic end clip broke.
