I have a shudder usually between gears, all gears, also shudders when maintaining a constant speed. During calm acceleration everything is fine but everything else makes it shudder. Off the line, between gears, slightly hard acceleration traveling at any speed. Transmission was replaced not even 7 months ago. No leaks, fluid level is good, fluid it's self is fine (lots of color). Tires are balanced no wire showing and so on. Other then u-joint problems, what else could be the cause of this? Vehicle is a 1996 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500 5.7L 350 automatic transmission.

You need to find out which system is causing it first. Lift it and run it like that, get some help and find the source of the shudder

SOURCE: 97 gmc pickup with automatic transmission trouble

1st thing to do is test the system for codes, the problem is most likely a failed or stuck shift solenoid indside the trans, have you ever serviced the trans, sometimes a fluid and filter cahnge will cure these kinds of issues.

I had a similar problem with my 2005 Envoy. It turned out that the bearings had to be replaced. Both sides. I hope its not your problem, it was expensive.

SOURCE: 1989 gmc sierra c1500 with 350 automatic 8 ft bed regular cab vibration at 45 in overdrive

I had the exactly the same problem, in overdrive my truck would start to shake, in 3rd it would instantly go away, i assumed it was the flywheel to, THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM, your tranny is in good shape and flywheel are in good shape, I had the "Idle Motor" replaced is what my mechanic called it, this completely fixed my problem, also my fuel milage went up considerably after having this replaced, hopefully this will help you out

Do a test with tranny in drive instead of OD/over-drive, does the problem go away? If so I think it is an OD issue.
Check motor mounts and suspension. In the past, I've seen bad shocks cause a noticeable vibration at a certain speed. Below or above that certain speed, no vibration.

When accelerating in 2nd and 3rd gear my Hyundai Santa Fe (2007) shudders. Seems fine in all other gears. The shuddering appears to be coming from the drivers side but this could just be because I am...

Check the ignition system. It may work fine while idling but fail during acceleration. Problem areas to be inspected include the spark plugs, spark plug wires and vacuum hoses. You should look for spark plugs that are covered in oil or sediment or damaged, spark plug wires that have damaged insulation, and vacuum hoses that are unplugged or leaking. The use of a fuel additive that contains both fuel injector cleaner and water remover can fix minor problems due to water in the gas and fuel injector clogs. Check the fuel pressure to test the injection system to assure proper pressure.

I have a 95 Mitsubishi Mirage, 1.8, manual transmission, distributor driven. 179k miles. Just started today, shudder after shifting in all gears, levels out after a moment, but seems to shudder stil

I would be checking the engine mounts as the shudder is when the engine is bouncing around under load
it it has a cable operated clutch, the problem could be that as the engine is allowed to move , it is affecting the operation of the pressure plate
it may be true that the distributor may have a problem but in this case , not electrical
distributor problems are limited ,to starting, missing, irregular timing but not what you describe

04 ram 1500 2wd. trans shudder at cruising speeds under 55? Doesn't during acceleration. Change filter and fluid to no avail.

That sounds like a torque converter problem more than likely. It sounds like it's trying to lock up (supposed to do that above 60mph) at a low speed. It will feel like a harsh shift or a shudder when it's trying to engage. Just to make sure I'm correct, drive it and listen to all the gears. When at 55-60mph after it has gone into it's top gear it will normally drop about 200-300rpm when the torque converter locks up.

Automatic shudders on some gear changes.

This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep

It's a step-by-step process. If it only happens on acceleration then it is a drivetrain problem. Start verifying from the outer cv joints and go in from there
