A common problem is that the speed control resistor is burnt out. Usually this resistor is in the air plenum so it is cooled by airflow. Search Google for: "chevy 2003 avalanche heater resistor" and several photos of this will appear. NOTE: the little thing supported by two leads above what looks like a flat plate is a one-shot thermal fuse. If you are adept at electronics you can get a new fuse of the SAME TEMP RATING from Mouser.com or Digikey.com and replace just this thermal fuse IF the rest of the resistor is still good. At Digikey search for THERMAL FUSE and be sure and get same temp rating. These are commonly used in appliances such as hair driers as a safety cutoff. Once the element in them melts, they permanently open and shut down the appliance.

SOURCE: 2002 F-150 blower motor stopped working.

There are 4 things to check out to pin point the problem: the switch it's self, the blower relay switch, resistor block, and the blower motor it's self. good luck

Heater blower motor fan won't work in 2003 Chevy pickup half ton. Replaced motor had power on both wires in motor plug. I grounded the black one out now no power on either one. Fuses good

you have a fan resistence it should work in high speed only or not at all check all fuses to be sure you should have a 30 amp for the motor and is the motor new or used try the motor at the battery first to see if working before going further

My heater will not blow anything unless im driving then i get hot air i changed the passenger filter and a couple fuses and still nothing i own a 2003 chevy impala 3400 engine

Try giving the blower motor a rap with a hammer handle or long screwdriver while it is on. Sometimes it will get it started. That is a sign that the motor brushes are bad and the motor will need to be replaced. The smack jars the contacts just enough to get it in motion and it will continue to run until you shut off the car.

Heater fan not working . changed fuse and nothing Silverado 1500

you can test the motor with a multe tester with ohms capable, locate the heater motor and the wires feeding it there will be 2 find the plug and unplug it, using the tester probe the 2 wires with the red and black from the meter to the motor side, on ohms scale the meter should deflect close to full scale, with a digital it should read around 30 or have at least have a low number but no lower than 20 or so, if you get a reading your motor is probably OK, you can also use the meter in voltage mode and with the heater turned on you should read a voltage higher than 10 on the vehicular side of the plug, if there is no voltage there check to see if you have voltage at the heater fuse, if so than replace your fan control switch,,,good to go

Blower fan only works intermitantly

Does the fan run on high and no other speeds? If so then it needs a new "blower motor resistor". It is held in by 2 screws behind the glove box. You can see it from the passenger floor looking up at the bottom of the heater box assembly about where the passengers left foot would normally be. If it doesn't run at all it may be a fuse, relay, or the fan motor itself.

Fan quit on 87 celebrity, heat ac, etc.. fuse ok ????

Hi
Check for bad connection at heater resistor or try tapping heater motor lightly
with ignition switch on and heater switch on. Could be heater switch connection.

The heater motor quit working for 1997 chevy astro awd van

First thing is to chk. fuse. If fuse is ok than there is 2 other things that could be bad, like the motor burnt up, did you smell anything when it did run? Like wires burning? If you did than the motor needs replaced. If not than its the heater motor resister thats bad and needs replaced, the resister controls the motor speeds and makes the heater motor run too.

Heater works but fan doesnt work

on the inside of the fuse box door there is a list of what each fuse is for, fuses will be numbered with coresponding numbers and explanation of what there for. also if fuse is ok, chanses are its the resister, its located behind glove box on top of heater box 2 screws hold it in heater box, electric plug with 4 or 5 wires going to it. i just went thru this with my 1995 chevy 1500 pick up. but before you go thru that chk. fuse, chk motor, run 12 volts direct to motor see if it works. now did the motor just quit? or did it work on a couple of speeds before it quit? well at any rate if the motor runs when 12 volts are put to it odds are its the heater resister.
