Trunk won't open

I have a 2007 Camry SE V6. The rear trunk won't open with any of the three methods available (key, remote, driver door-side lever). It is NOT a valet key issue (i.e., vertical or horizontal position on the trunk key slot), and the master key will not open the trunk manually either. The key fob's trunk release button makes the noise in the trunk key cylinder area, as I can hear it every time I press the button, but the trunk still won't open. Why won't the trunk open with even the key inserted and turning it manually? That seems unusual. Is it possible the lock actuator (or whatever it's called - and/or related components) broke, such that the key won't disengage trunk lock? There isn't anything stuffed in the trunk, so I know it's nothing jammed in the connections. Someone told me I would have to replace the actuator? About a $410 job parts and labor at the dealership. Any thoughs??

SOURCE: Trunk won't open

First, if it does need an actuator, you can save some money on labor getting it done at an idependent aftermarket shop rather than the dealer. Yes, the part will most likely have to come from the dealer, but let the shop deal with that. You do not have to pay dealership labor rates. It would pay to shop around.

Second, before any parts are purchaced, the actual CAUSE of the problem needs to be verified. Unfortunately, the ONLY way to do that is to get the trunk lid open and inspect the trunk lid latch components. If none of the three methods provided by the manufacturer for opening the trunk in a normal fashion will work, the trunk will have to be accessed by removing the back seat. Once the back seat is removed, a technician can reach into the trunk and remove the bolts that secure the trunk latch to get the trunk open. The latch parts can then be accessed to disassemble, inspect, and repair accordingly.

Please note that this is the ONLY way to do this without causing further damage to the vehicle. DO NOT allow anyone to attempt getting into the trunk any other way! (Do not use pry bars or screwdrivers on the trunk lid, key tumblers, etc..)

2012 Toyota Camry SE - Key locked in trunk with car is locked. Is there a way to get in without locksmith?

you can 'fish' a coat hanger through the door seal to press the unlock button on the armrest, or slide down along window into the door's body to attempt to manually work the locking mechanism... a slim-jim is helpful here but can be done w/ coat hanger. WARNING!: this may damage your paint or the door seal or both, or the window seal.... once in the main body of the car...trip the lever

.2007 Toyota Camry XLE key fob not opening trunk remotely...also starting to have problems with it opening driver side door

First things first...replace the cheaper part first, the battery. It that works, great! If not, then you may need a new key fob then have it programed to your system.

Trunk won't open with either remote but will open with trunk button on drivers door

I would check the owners manual or with Cadillac - its possible the remotes lost part of the signal and need to be reset. It sounds like the receiver is not getting a signal from them by using that button.
Could be the receiver too.

Wireless Key Remote door & trunk opener won't work with trunk anymore

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? The issue may be a bad battery in the key fob OR there could be an issue with the transmitter located inside the vehicle. Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

1. Open trunk

4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced
