Its probably ok but I would recommend 10w30 for anything with more than 100,000 miles on the odometer.
Also, 5w30 works better in colder temps, the first number is the "cold thickness" and the second number is the "hot thickness". The bigger the number the thicker the oil in basic terms.

make sure the contection on the back of your odometer is connected and is the cable connected to the transmission. If so might be the cable inside lube it with some WD-40 and should start working again. Main thing to check are the connections.

if you can find you fuse box just pull the cover off and look on the inside of the cover it will show you what fuse the amprage and the location in the fuse panel they are numbered ok
they have crankshaft sencers on the transmission on jeeps. it would be up high on the drivers side on front of transmission. they will cause it to not get fuel or fire and can run then quit.
