The DSC warning light is similar to the one you mention. As I do not know the year or model I am guessing it is the one. It has to do with dynamic stability control and needs BMW diagnostics to analyze and repair.
theres a problem with the abs, when the abs has a problem the brake and abs light come on, also dsc light does too, because it uses the abs to control the system so when abs doesnt work it shuts down the dsc and turns the light on, you will need to have the abs system scanned for codes these codes will give an idea of whats not working and it can be diagnosed why.
i need anyone one to help me with this problem, i have a BMW328ci and i tried tyo get out of my house this morning and all roads were frozen and the car started sliping and i activated the dcs button and car was still slipering and then brake, ABS, CBC & DSC lights turned on and i need to know how i can reset these lights so they can come off
It is not your A/C the problem, try this:
1- Apply the brake.
2-Open ignition to on position II engine off.
3-make sure to set A/C to low temp with A/C button off.
4-Start the car while keeping foot on the brake.
5-push A/C button on and make sure that a/c compressor comes on and wait around 10-12 second.
6-Let foot of the brake and wait ,check if DSC light comes on if not pump the brake several time with A/C compressor on if light comes on, if it dose mean your MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE SENSORS NEED CHANGING.
This was the solution for my car,I had exact the same problem.
When the DSC Dynamic Stability Control light is ON your traction control is OFF. It will sometimes trigger the ABS light and the Rev Limiter it is an engine protection FAIL SAFE mode. Check your brake switch on the brake pedal, this sounds like the problem wen replaced it will reset the Rev limiter, if the ABS light comes Check the wheel sensors
I have the same fault , that has just occured out of the blue only 38,000 on clock.
Drives perfectly and brakes fine too.
Warning light indicates Suspension Stability control
but diagnosed as yours at the same cost.
Apparently quite a common fault with series 1 , but BMW do not tell you that !!
car is sensing a problem with the stability control system (DSC) or the antilock brake system (ABS). usually an ABS problem will turn off the DSC, so DSC may be ok, just ABS needs a look at.
since its an '08 model, it should still be covered by the BMW warranty provided you live in the USA. take it in and have them fix it. not safe driving with both systems deactivated.
