Replace the starter solenoid. Make sure you hook the wires back properly. Try jumping across the solenoid with cables to see the starter crank. That makes a direction to the starter. That's what the solenoid does. It connects those 2 cable ends together to make the starter crank over.

SOURCE: When I turn the key to crank my Dodge Ram 2500, nothing happens.

Is this a manual or automatic tranny? I would be looking at the gearshift selector, did you try starting it in neutral, as opposed to park, if it's an auto, and how about a switch on the clutch pedal to prevent starting in gear, if it's a manual? How about wiring to the neutral safety start switch? Any fuses, circuit breakers been checked? What year truck?
I'm just throwing things out there, just to check before you spend any more money that you don't have to.
I could use a battery, right now- got an extra one?
:-)

Good luck and keep us posted.

your starter solenoid is out. may have even blown a fuse under the hood in the fuse box in front of the driver. i believe it is a 30 amp.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I installed a remote car starter and the alarm and door locks worked great but when I went to start it with the remote something sizzled and now mine is doing the same thing yours is. Let me know if you figure it out. Thx man

2007 Dodge Caravan won't start.Batt. is good, all lights work, Turn key, solenoid clicks and stops, all gauge needles slowly move to max., and return to min. No codes displayed.

When you try to start it do the lights dim way low, have you been able to start it with a jump from another vehicle, unfortunately, chances are the starter needs to be replaced. How many miles does it have?

I have a 1991 dodge stealth es that will not start. I replaced the starter and starter relay so far. It won't make a single sound when I turn the key. No sound from the starter. No clicking. The dash...

It sounds as though your connection is not grounded. The starter take a lot of juice from the battery and your connection has to be solid. Check and make sure it is free of debris and make certain that all connections are secure. There should be no wiggling in wires. Make sure also. That you don’t have a starter ”fuse”. Some cars have a fuse and a relay.

Check Battery connects,Cables.Clean !Also to engine ground. Then Alternator belt tension.Listen for slippage. Check connection on starter relay, and bolts on starter, tap on starter while a buddy starts engine, with the key. Could be bad brushes in starter and or bad relay at starter.

My 94 dodge shadow ES 3.0 v6 will not start. Replaced fuel filter and fuel pump. It seems as though the engine is still not receiving fuel. Could the ECU be the problem? When starter fluid is used, the car...

When you key to accessory do you hear the fuel pump running? If not, check the fuse, if you just replaced it you may have grounded out something or had a surge. If the fuse is good, check your ASD relay. (should be on the right fender/strut tower) It can be had at any local autoparts store. If the relay is good, work your way up to the ECU.

As a note: You're getting spark as your starter fluid burned up so I don't think it's going to be ignition related.

Additional note: The Chrysler-bishi 3.0 is an interesting animal, for some more tech info I highly recommend checking out Gary Donnovan's web site (http://www.thedodgegarage.com/) there is a 3.0 V6 knowlege base (navigate on the right side of the page... Check your ignition switch (located on the steering column under the dash) If this is working, you will hear an electronic switch click when you turn the key on - if you do hear it then replace your starter

Dodge Ram B250 1994 - has a Starting Problem

if you van has a security system in it, it could be causing this problem. they usually disable the starter circuit. Paul has listed good places to start. but if they don't fix it do this: when your trying to start but its not working have some one check voltage at the starter. there are 3 points to check 1: where battery cable connects 2: where starter connects to solenoid 3: small wire that operates solenoid. if there is voltage at all three point replace starter it has a shorted / open spot on armature. voltage at 1 and 3 but not 2 replace solenoid. voltage at 1 but not at 3 and you have already checked the items Paul identified check wiring between neutral safety switch and solenoid.
