The fan makes a noise at low speed and high speed, and some times turns it's self on and off.the noise sounds like the fan is catching some thing.hope you can work this one out for me,many thanks tony.
The fan motor can be checked by using jumper wires. remove the wiring connector from the fan.Run the positive wire from the battery to the positive on the fan and the ground to ground. It should turn smoothly and at normal speed at 12 volts. If it is slow and noisy, the bearings making the noise. This indicates the motor is bad.

the cab heater fan?, there can be 4 fans on some cars. front condenser, 2 on rad, and 1 in cab heater box. the cab fan? does it fail on high too? it has a switch, (marked fan speed) the switch is bad ,if low speed are dead. and high are good. or wiring to it , the motor or the fuse. even a cracked fuse, change the fan fuse to a new fuse.
It may be the bearings in the motor are dry or out. You coulod pull the motor and fan assembly out and check its operation while it is out of the heater case. Look for anything inside the heater cavity where the motor sits for any problem hindering motor operation.
It is not probably the resistor pack, because that only is in circuit at lower speeds, and would not cause noise. If there is not something in the fan, like leaves, then it is probably the fan motor bearing. If you can get at it, you could try lubricating it. Thin sprays get in better, but don't last as long. Heavy grease is best.
Well it sounds like the blower motor relay is out you might also need a blower motor if it is using to much juice on high speed then the blower motor is probabley about to go out and with the noise you are describing it sounds like a bearing in the blower motor is about to go out so probabley should change the blower motor and the blower motor relay.
It's very possible the fan motor has quit. The squealing noise is caused from motor bearing failure. As the bearings wear out or dry up the motor is harder to turn and require more current to run the motor. On lower speeds, the motor runs off a series of resistors that reduce the amount of voltage and current so the fan runs a lower speeds. If the bearings are worn, there is not enough voltage or current to turn the motor and that'sprobably the humming noise your hearing.
Good observation by the way.
Let me know.
regards,
Sounds like the blower motor is going out. and need full voltage to run. Are you might have leaves or trash in the duct work causing to motor to drag at low speeds, and making it make the noise that it is making.
If fuses are good then you need to unplug the blower motor connector and check to see if you have power going to it. From the previous noises you were hearing it sounds like the blower motor has failed.
