When i first start my truck up in the morning i let the glow plugs heat up untill the pig tail dash light goes off then i start it. it will die the first time i turn it over then i wait a seacond and start it again. it will start but it seems like the batterys are low on juice then while ideling it has a horrible lope to it and puffs white smoke. but once it has warmed up it doesnt do it anymore thru out the day. it also has codes p1780, p1397, b1676. any help or tips would be appreciated

did you check the glow plug relay right on top of the engine?
SOURCE: cranks over ok but will not start
sounds like its out of time at the injection system and or engine timing
SOURCE: Hard to start if not plugged in for hours
Sounds like your glow plugs are bad. Have them checked.

Do you have dual fuel tanks? Place the return fuel line from the back of the fuel pump in a bucket and see if it will start. If yes replace the fuel tank switching valve. It may switch supply side ok, but not return side and if so it is plugging the return, which will cause a no start stuation. If it starts running the return line into a bucket replace the switching valve.

Generally a tune-up is needed when a vehcle is misfiring. Usually the tune-up is the least expensive way to go. It could be the fuel injection or relay, but tune-up is the cheapest way to start.
