SOURCE: glow plug system will not cycle

Do you have dual fuel tanks? Place the return fuel line from the back of the fuel pump in a bucket and see if it will start. If yes replace the fuel tank switching valve. It may switch supply side ok, but not return side and if so it is plugging the return, which will cause a no start stuation. If it starts running the return line into a bucket replace the switching valve.

SOURCE: I have a misfire code also, truck misses when

Generally a tune-up is needed when a vehcle is misfiring. Usually the tune-up is the least expensive way to go. It could be the fuel injection or relay, but tune-up is the cheapest way to start.

Why does my 2004 (Land cruiser) PRADO 3000 Turbo Diesel 5sp- have issues starting when it's cold? It turns over and over does nothing, then when it starts, I get a big plume of smoke, then it idles rough...

glow plugs are activated if look on the dash when you turn the ignition just before cranking and you should see a light that stays on for several seconds then goes out and then you should crank the engine ! sometimes when its really cold or the glow plugs are worn try turning the ignition on and off each time light goes out 2 or 3 times to get more heat on the plugs then start ! if this doesnt work then glow plus and system needs checking !

I have a c200 cdi mercedes from 2006 (w203 model). in cold mornings (0-2 C) don't want to start. everything works, lights are on, dash is on but engine don't start. i have replaced the battery

Hi
It sounds to me like it could be a glow plug fault !
The glow plugs heat the diesel before it combusts. An easy way to diagnose this is check your exhaust after cranking on a cold morning if you have thick white smoke then you've probably got a glow plug down on 1 of your cylinders or maybe more
Hope this helps Nick

My rexton 2005 wount star when its cold changed glow plug relay stil the same . and no glow plug light on the dash bord thanks

Two part answer, firstly the glow plug light. The glow plug light on a Ssangyong will only illuminate if the ambient temperature is low enough for the glow plugs to require heating. I did not believe it when I first heard this but sure enough, on the first frosty morning I had the truck, the glow plug light came on for a few seconds. Don't worry about it, the temperature needs to be really cold before it will come on.
Secondly the no-start issue, I had a similar problem with my Ssangyong Rexton. Unfortunately, it is the injector pump, the filter gets clogged with micro-particles of crud. Take it to a diesel pump specialist (as a Ssangyong dealer won't know what to do in my experience and they will charge $000's to fix) and get them to remove and clean the injector pump.

My 1992 diesel pajero which is import from japen, has problem with glow control unit, it not working, every morning it hard to start. i had replaced the control unit, it wan't help, does some one

You need to check that you are getting power to the glow plugs, when the light shows on the dash you should have 12V to the glow plugs, if you do have 12V at the glow plugs and it still is having issues starting then your glow plugs may need to be replaced. You can buy them off ebay at reasonable prices.

2004 landcrusier 100 series. glow plug light stays on all the time, although the glow plugs are not being supplied power. starts and runs ok.

THIS COMES ALL FROM "WAIT TO START" DO YOU WAIT TO START? IF NOT,THEN THE GLOW PLUGS ARE BUR'NT OUT,WHICH YOU WILL NOT NEED UNTIL FALL. OR MAYBE YOU'VE GOT IT HOOKED ON EITHER,STARTING FLUID,IN WHICH CASE,I SUGGEST YOU REPLACE THOSE GLOW PLUGS NOW.OR ELSE YOU'RE MOVING ON TO EVEN WORSE ISSUES.LET ME ASK YOU THIS,WHY ARE'NT THE GLOW PLUGS BEING DENIED POWER? AFTER ALL THEY START THE ENGINE? AFTER YOU INSERT THE KEY INTO THE SWITCH,WAIT TO START,LIGHTS UP.IF YOU'VE NOT WAITED UNTIL THAT WAIT TO START LIGHT GOES OFF,,,YOU'VE BURNT THE GLOW PLUGS UP.THE ONLY THING TO DO IS REPLACE THEM ALL.IF YOU'VE BEEN USING STARTING FLUID OR EITHER TO START YOUR ENGINE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME,FORGET REPLACING THE GLOW PLUGS,BECAUSE YOUR ENGINE IS ADDICTED TO THE BOTTLE(EITHER) YOU MAY BE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES,REPLACING THE GLOW PLUGS MAY RESOLVE YOUR ISSUES.BUT,WAIT TO START,,AIN'T NO JOKE. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU & YOURS!

I have an 2003 dodge ram 2500 cummins diesel and have trouble starting when its been sitting, but when it has been sitting for a bit it would start with no problem. Have no error codes and when it is...

Are the batteries in good shape? Starter slower than before? I hope one of those two. Alternative would be glow plugs. In nice weather it probably starts like a champ but when the temperature drops the glow plugs work overtime to get that initial bang to start. I'm a dodge man but have never driven a Dodge powered by cummins so I don't know about the glow plug light situation. On fords they look like a pigs tail or it just has a "wait to start" amber light. Sometimes a double cycle, letting the light go out and turning it off and then letting it cycle again will make for an easy start.

2004 SIVERADO 2500 HD CREW CAB

Sound like a hide-a-way strobe tube...used as a warning light. Here is a link to a similar item: http://www.swps.com/whelen-hide-a-way-strobe-kit.html. They are used for a wide variety of applications where warning lights are needed, but a roof top light may not be the owners first choice. A lot of people will leave the bulbs in if they get rid of a vehicle because they require a 1 inch hold to be drilled into the light housing. If you remove the bulb, there is a chance that dirt and water will enter the housing. I have them on my vehicles. Hope this helps.
