I drive a 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Last winter (2007-2008) I used my 4WD all the time and never had any problems with it. I always shut off my 4WD when the roads where dry and turn it on when the roads were wet. This winter (2008-2209) I had to use my 4WD already and everything seemed fine until, all of a sudden, while driving 80-100km/h the 4WD kicks out and i hear my gears grinding. Do you know why this is happening or what would cause this? What is my best plan of action at this point? Try fixing the problem of relaceing the system/vehical? Thanks!
You may use the quadra-trac on low speed and the select-trac on high speed but with a compromised traction, ( I think you have this feature)
Anyway, I would still suggest you go below 80 on snow covered paved road to make it safe for you and for your 4WD system

Have your transmission and transfer case checked, this could be the only parts broken on the basis of what you have told us. when you said you heard gears grinding, it is better to replace them.
In your case, I would presume that you were driving on a paved road, Engaging your 4WD on a paved road and doing 80-100km would really damage your 4WD system. wetness of a paved road is not enough to justify the use of your 4WD because there is enough traction on both front and rear tires that could cause your gears to resist each other.
It would be a different case if you drive at 80-100km on a dirt road or off road, i will assure you nothing wrong will happen.
You may still engage your 4WD on a wet paved road but do only a 60 or below.

The road was actually snow covered not just wet, I wouldn't have used 4WD if the roads were only wet. Doyou know may be causeing the problem?
