SOURCE: Safty lock for spare tire on 2003 chevy silverado

Check your owners manual .There is a saftey catch that will need to be realased by using your bottle jack and tire stops that come with your truck. If you dont have a owners manual. What you can try is taking a floor jack and a socket place it under the spairtire right in the center where the cable holds the tire in place. start jacking it up until the socket hits the square part in the center once the socket is aligned with the square part continue to jack up it should release it . Its a stupid system but it will work if the cable wont allow the tire to drop. good luck and keep me posted.

SOURCE: how do you remove the spare tire from a 2006 chevy

To remove the spare you need to access tools stored in the back of the vehicle, passenger side storage area. Open llftgate, remove net (if equipped), lift tab and remove cover to tool storage. Attach folding wrench to extension, insert 'chisel' end on an angle through the hole in the rear bumper and into the hoist shaft. Turn wrench counter-clockwise to lower spare enough so you can pull it from beneath the van to detach. Good luck!

SOURCE: spare tire won't release.

This is the worst GM engineering i have ever seen !!!! The secondary locking mech. rust itself in the locked position on will NOT allow the tire to lower. After lowering the tire down approx. 2-4" the saftey lock is still engaged. I was able to reach above the tire and remove the bolt holding the hoist in place. {15 mm wrench}. Keep a floor jack under the tire to support it and as not to fall on your head. After removing the bolt the hoist is hooked on the frame member and must be lifted off to remove. Once you get it on the garage floor it is possible to disengage the locking mech. with a few tools and a big hammer. Good luck This should be a Recall

SOURCE: How do you remove the spare tire on a Chevy 2005

There is a place at the rear, into which you put the jack handle, then turn counter clockwise and a cable releases the tire.

Tricks or special tools to replace rear outer seals on 2004 tracker zr2 4x4

  1. Jack up the vehicle: Use a floor jack to lift the rear of the vehicle off the ground.
  2. Remove the wheel: Remove the wheel and tire from the rear axle.
  3. Access the seals: Locate the rear outer seals on the axle and remove any retaining clips that hold them in place.
  4. Remove the old seals: Use a seal puller or a flat-blade screwdriver to carefully remove the old seals. Be careful not to damage the axle or surrounding components during this process.
  5. Clean the axle: Clean the surface of the axle where the new seals will be installed to ensure a proper seal.
  6. Install the new seals: Carefully place the new seals onto the axle and secure them in place with the retaining clips.
  7. Replace the wheel: Replace the wheel and tire and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
It may be helpful to have a service manual for your vehicle on hand, as well as specialized tools such as a seal puller or a bearing packer. In addition, a clean and well-lit workspace will help make the process easier.

We have a 2004 Chevy avalanche, we need to get the spare tire down. the lock on the right side of the license plate won't do anything. What do we do?

I can't see anything from here. Do you have an owners manual, if so, look up info for removing spare tire. I looked at your owners manual, It didn't say anything about a lock, so I don't know? If you don't have an owners manual, I can help with that.
I don't like spark tires under the vehicle, the first chance I got, I'd put the spare tire in back of vehicle, easy to get at.
If this was my vehicle, I'd get that spare tire down, one way or the other. Just my opinion.
I realize that isn't the answer you wanted and I apologize. I'd have to look at it.

Where is the spare on a 95 ford windstar

it should be right behind your rear bumper up under your van. The way it is removed is to take your tire iron extension bars that should have come with your vehicle and assemble them. then you should see a hole near your license plate tag or somewhere on your bumper to stick the rod in ( sometimes the hole has a lock that your ignition key should unlock) then you turn the crank handle and lower down your tire.

You will have to replace the mechanism and wire, a stock wheel works fine as a spare, they used to supply a stock wheel as standard before they invented the spacesaver spare.
