Oil leak coming from the top side of my oil filter. Removed oil filter and the bracket the bolts to the motor, replaced seal and changed oil but still leaking. Any suggestions ?
Make sure you oil the rubber seal on the oil filter and tighten the oil filter 3/4 of a turn more after the seal is flush with the bracket.
A leaky head gasket will turn your oil a milky cover as the coolant leaks into it. Check that first. Next on a cold engine spray some carb cleaner or brake degreaser around the part of the engine that seams to be leaking. Make sure you get all of the oily residue off. Now for the next couple of days, check to see where the upper most oily residue is coming from and that will be your problem. On most cars it will come from the valve cover. This gasket should be an easy thing to replace as it is on the top of the engine.

Yea i tryed that the first time, the second time i went and got another oil filter and repeated but this time i tightened it probably a 1/2 turn more after the 3/4 turn.
When i removed the bracket i didn't see any cracks on either part. Any other suggestions, you don't think it's a head or gasket do you?
