The low coolant light has been on and goes off for about two hours after filling. Steam has started showing today when I started the car. The leak has progressively gotten worse since Friday. It goes in the shop Friday. I see on the passenger side a steady drip. There is a noticeable puddle of antifreeze under this area of my car as well. I've heard everything from a thermostat, heater core ( my heater works fine), to a possible water pump. Where is the water pump located on a Saturn Vue. I just want to have some idea of what I'm getting into when the repairman tells me what is going on.

That is what I was thinking but I've not really beed able to look at it but as i said there is a definate steady drip that is dropping straight down but its freezing cold here and I'm female if you can't tell. I'm not about to lay down in a pile of antifreeze. Brian my husband works out of town so I'm learning on my own. I assume the hoses run to that side of the engine.
Ok.. took it to the garage on Friday and they said it was the pump. They are closed this week and he didn't want to tear it down and something go wrong and for me not to have my car for a week. So I went to a Napa certified shop that I heard great things about. They replaced the pump. However, after about 30 miles of driving the low coolant light came on. I let the car cool down a couple of hours and checked the overflow. It is about an inch below the cold fill line. Well, I had been buying dexcool antifreeze because that is what my manual called for. They put green antifreeze in it. I've heard that will cause some gunk in my radiator. So should I put the dexcool in it I have or take it back to the shop and say what the heck? Is it ok for them to mix the green with the dexcool? I don't even know if its fixed or if it just wasnt filled up enough. I needed it fixed to travel for Thanksgiving..GRRRR!
I'm having the same problem...and now even after I replaced the water pump (which was $1700), now I have to replace the cylinder head assembly of the engine (another ($4000))...I'm so frustrated!!!
