Car wont start

Low tire pressure warning light is on. is there a security that wont let your car start if tire pressure is too low, or do i have a bigger problem of why my car wont start?

  • jodi_apodaca Nov 20, 2008

my car has gas and if it was on empty, what does it have to do with the low tire pressure light being on? Just curious.

  • jodi_apodaca Nov 20, 2008

My car is a 2006 not 2005. oops. It still wont start so we had it picked up and the dealership thinks that it is the ignition switch. What is this and why would it just all of a sudden go out? Please help me understand! Thanks.

Check tire pressure and fill to recomended pressure.
then put some more gas in the tank , then try to start it .If it still won't start , it's something else.
start simple and work your way up, you may save some money.
I hope this is helpfull !

  • Thomas Smith Oct 28, 2011

if the tank is low enough, and you do actually have alow tire depending on location of low tire , the fuel pickup in the tank could be above the level of the fuel, and therefore it would be like your car was out of gas.
I have actually had this happen to me.
I hope this will help explain why the the amount of fuel in tank might cause a problem related to tire pressure

Tpms light on, dic indicated low tp fr, inflated to proper pressure, tpms stays on, dic wont update

TPMS - TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT
NOTE: Tire pressure rises and falls depending on heat caused by vehicle's operation and the outside temperature. If outside temperature is low, the air inside the tire may cool, causing a lower tire inflation pressure. This may cause the low tire pressure warning light to illuminate.

When the tire pressure warning light comes on, immediately check the air pressure of all tires and adjust to the specified pressure. Make sure the warning light goes off. If the warning light stays on or flashes, there is a malfunction in the TPM system. See appropriate manufacturer service information.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Tyre pressure warning light showing when pressures are correct

Hi, the tire pressure monitor detects any changes in the tire inflation pressure. Therefore, it must initialize and store it in its memory if the tires or wheels have been replaced, re-inflated or the tires have been rotated. You can re-initialize the system by following these steps:

1. Check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (in the glove box) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. Now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. Initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

What does an ! in a circle mean with ( ) around it

This (!) symbol is your TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) warning light.
The manual has this to say about it:
This system monitors tire pressure. if the low tire pressure warning light illuminates, check the tire pressure in all four tires. Adjust the low tire pressure to the recommended cold tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading information label located in the driver's door opening. After tire pressures are adjusted, the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 16 MPH (25 km/h) to activate the TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning light.

Low tire pressure indicator came on today. All tire are at right pressure. How to reset?

BMW low tire pressure sensors use the speed sensors at the wheels to detect a flat tire. If any one tire is much newer or older than the other three, the warning will trigger. Tire chains tend to set it off as well.
There should be a button on the console that has a pattern that looks like the low pressure warning light - the profile of a tire with an explanation point inside. After you start the engine but before moving, press and hold that button until the warning light in the instrument cluster illuminates yellow. Then drive normally. That should re-initialize the tire pressure warning system.

Your tire pressure monitor needs to be reset whenever you change or rotate your tires...

1. check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (think the switch is in the glovebox, but not sure) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.
