I have a 2000 pontiac montana, I also had the squeaking sound for months.Finally my van broke 15 feet from where i live. I managed to go back and park at the side of my house. I opened the hood and saw the belt off and ripped a little. Upon further inspection I saw the pulley or harmonic balancer 1/2 inch off or coming off. I bought the belt, pulley(harmonic balancer), and a pulley puller that cost me $16.00 at Harbor freight tools.(the one that screws in). I don't in your case, if you need to raise your engine in order to have space for the puller. If you don't have a crane, you can use a floor jack with a piece of wood inbetween the engine and jack. In my case i did not need to raise the engine. I did notice that rubber engine mount was not good anymore.Maybe that caused the pulley to misalign with the belt and other pullies. I did not have time to change the engine mount. But will change it in the future. After i installed the new pulley and belt, the squeeking sound was gone.

start by checking to see if ALL the pullys spin freely. sounds like the bearing are shot in one of them or ac compressor is siezed
