Seems like the car is completely disabled. Nothings works, lights, horn, wipers, flashers, will not come out of park etc. Intermittently the radio will work and a few indicator lights will come on. Door chime also works intermittentley. First happened two days ago and after messing with switches for about 20 minutes it started. Ran fine for two days and happened again. Battery voltage checks fine and does not drop off when key is turned. When indicators are illuminated stepping on break, turning on flashers etc will stop everything from working. If key is left in on position seesm like it goes into a test mode. some indicators come on slowly, start flashing, etc
Is there any way to check it without just replacing it?Is there any way to check it without just replacing it?

the gauges will stop working and go all the way to the left (stop registering). The trouble light comes on i.e. security, traction etc. A few seconds later the gauges will fluxuate and start working again. I've changed the cluster and it worked for 4 days and then started messing up again. I've checked the battery and alternator. Both are fine.the gauges will stop working and go all the way to the left (stop registering). What all did you disconnect ? Did you disconnect any connectors to the BCM - body control module ? All the thing's your having troubles with are controlled by the BCM . The wiper switch is an input to the BCM , the BCM controls the wipers by energizing two different relays . wiper on relay & wiper high low relay .
Since horn didn't work, tried to take off dash ???? Why ? didn't need to do that . Do you know what a relay is ? Horn relay is located in the under hood fuse / relay box . You could have tested right at the relay base - where it plugs in . VEHICLE RELAYS Operation Diagnosis
Offhand I would say that the Ignition Relay or Ignition switch is bad. You will not be able to start a cold diesel without the Glowplugs. If you think about what works and what does not work when the ignition key is not turned on, many of the things match your problems.
If you lost your Ignition the truck would stall and just quit. Usually the headlights would still work. The Wipers would not work without the Ignition being in the ON position. Not sure how your horn is wired but most Honk with the Ignition in any position.
Now there is a difference when you say it won't start: whether you mean it does not crank or that it cranks but will not start. If the Ignition is working-the Glow plug Timer should cycle, but it will need power from the power Relay. So when you turn the key you should hear the timer.
There can be a Master power fusible link. It should be near the battery. You can go register your truck at Autozone.com and get free wiring diagrams.

Ford F150 Manual (page 137): Enabling/disabling the perimeter lighting feature Your vehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. All vehicle doors must be closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1–5 within 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait a minimum of 30 seconds to begin again. 1. Turn the ignition to the on position, then press the power door control three times. 2. Turn the ignition to the off position, then press the power door control three times. 3. Turn the ignition to the on position; the horn will chirp to indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated. 4. Within five seconds, press the power door control two times. Note: One horn chirp should be heard, indicating the system has been disabled. Conversely, a horn chirp followed by a honk will indicate the system is enabled. Pressing the power door control two times again will turn the feature on if it was previously off, or off if it was previously on. Every two consecutive presses of the power door control after successfully entering the configuration mode will change the enable/disable condition of the feature.
5. Turn the ignition to the off position to exit programming. Note: After exiting the driver configuration mode, the horn will chirp once to indicate a feature has been activated/deactivated. Good luck and keep me posted if you have any more questions.
Much easier to replace the switch assembly. If it is something minor repair it but do not open the switch assembly packaging so that you can return it.
It definitely sounds like the electrical part of your ignition isn't working properly. When you turn the key, the lck and tumbler turns on the ign. switch in which sends power to the rest of the car.
