If your delay module is working correctly, you should be able to turn your headlights off first, then shut the engine off and by then, all lights will go off. never need to use my delay unit always shut headlights off then the engine.

SOURCE: NEED TO CHANGE BODY MODULE IN 1999 JEEP CHEROKEE.

The Cherokee doesn't have a body control module however the Grand Cherokee does. It is behind the kneeblocker trim panel under the steering column directly in front of the drivers left knee.

SOURCE: How to replace headlights on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

One long bolt at the top - requires a 7mm socket to remove the bolt. The light housing will pry out with a screw driver. There are three ball and socket type connectors that hold the housing in and I just pryed off the plastic housing carefully and "balls" pop out of the sockets. Finally, I was replacing the faded plastic housing and it came with a new wiring harness. It's impossible to reach the connector to use the new wiring harness that comes with the new plastic light housing. So just use the existing wiring harness with the new light assembly.

SOURCE: 2000 jeep cherokee sport 4.0

I believe that year had distributorless ignition, instead it uses a form of coil on plug ignition system.

If you open the hood, stand at the front of the vehicle. Look to the left side of the engine, around the bottom of the valve cover (The valve cover is where the oil fill cap is. The oil fill cap is on top of the valve cover), at the bottom of the valve cover on the left side you will see a series of humps. Those series of humps is the coil packs, the coil packs are all in one long piece held down by three or four bolts.

Take out those bolts, gently pry up at the ends of the coil pack and it will eventually come out. You'll see on the bottom side the spark plug boots are attached to the coil pack. After you get the ignition coil pack off, you will see the spark plugs under where the coil pack came from, the boots on the coil pack sit directly on the spark plugs.

SOURCE: where is the speed sensor located on a 2000 jeep

Since you have the die hard, can not kill 4.0, I believe this mated with the 42RE transmission. My understanding It use's a single sensor (located on the overdrive gear case, over the park gear). The 42RE transmissions use a single sensor (located on the overdrive gear case, over the park gear). The 42RE transmissions use a single sensor (located on the overdrive gear case, over the park gear).

Why don't d delayed headlights once the headlights to shut off on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

ah the fun parts, all that HL delay and stuff. malarkey i call it.
it's all programmable. (and defeated in mine, i like it so much, not)

some are user settable others not , and varies by year, not so nice of jeep to do that... but did.
the operators guide, lost that?., covers this,.
if you have it guide and it does not cover your exact delay issue.
then that means only the dealer can change that.

easy huh?
( my head lights only come on when i command it and off the same)
that way if the battery is weak, I'M IN CONTROL. dig?
my key entry is silent too. that way, i can enter car , not attracting attention, nor inane flashing lights telling bad elements where i am.
security, works better silent and blind.

1999 jeep cherokee-hooked up to a trailer with electrical problem-I instantly lost dim headlight and both driver's side running lights. I suspect the running lights module. I found the replacement part...

Hi. The trailer has a shot in the wiring and blew your Jeep lights. Check for fuse in fuse box near battery or inside Jeep under dash and replace it.

Jeep cherokee runing ht. new thermostat new fan new shroud new radiator no steam no leaking fluids just blows water when it is hot and turned off

is fan acually working? check and make sure its working. if not its the fan module located behind passenger head light. you have to cut a hole in body under headlight to access it. the hole will be covered by headlight so dont worry about making hole.

In the fuse panel of a jeep cherokee 1995, where is the a fuse for the headlights? which one is it? or where is a (micro) control fuse? where can i see a diagram of this fuse panel, free. Thanks, Larry

Number 11 is a 25 amp (natural) Headlamp delay module and also controls the horn.
Number 15 is a 15 amp (Lt. Blue) this controls the instrument panel lamps, headlamp switch, parking lamps and radio/clock memory.
number 17 is a 7.5 Amp (Violet) controls instrument cluster gauges, headlamp delay module, chime module, overhead console. I hope this helps because there are several different configurations for the jeep. So if this doesn't make sense then let me know and I will send you a different one.
