Changed fob battery on remote for my RAV4. Alarm now keeps going off when getting in & out of the RAV4. How do I program the fob into the cars memory?

Changed fob battery on my remote for my RAV4 and left the fob open for a few hours. When I put the fob back together later that day it now seems the fob wont open the door and I have to open it by key but then the alarm goes off. How do I get my fob/remote to work the alram and open the doors without using the key? Thank you

SOURCE: when we use our key fob to lock the doors, i know

You should be able to just unlock the door with the key, and even if the alarm is still going of try to start it the key should override the alarm.

SOURCE: key fob, wont work, even thow ive changed battery

If the alarm is factory alarm , then there will be no valet switch.--------If the alarm is after market alarm, then here will be valet switch. Its like a toggle switch. This is to disable alarm.--------- The valet switch is usually located in the lower left kickpanel. Start off by turning the key on, then flip the valet switch the other way. If done correctly, the alarm LED will light up solid. Turn the key off.
The lower left kick panel is where the left foot would be resting. There's a panel next to the left foot area. Look for a toggle switch in that area.
------------
But if its after market alarm, and there is no toggle switch, then you need to get the alarm module connection wire disconnected.--------- Getting it done at dealer or at professional auto part store will be helpful. But if its original factory alarm, then dealer can only disable the alarm.------- ----- Basically they charge between $50 to $100.As per time consumed. The alarm is connected to ignition, fuel pump, computer and other electrical parts like door and modules.------ So exact connection has to be disconnected.------------- If there is no valet switch seen, then getting it disabled at dealer will be helpful. But also consult, local auto parts store. Some have exact schematics for alarm connections, so as per that they can also do it, if its after market alarm.-------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a 3 channel remote car starter installed in 2006. This winter I double click the remote and the car alarm comes on. I have changed the batteries. What is the problem?

the key fob may need reprogrammed or synced since you changed battery,
when battery removed this happens on some models.
if it was factory installed and instruction not in your manual ask the dealer to do it.

I have a 2003 hyundai sonata and i dont have the remote for the stock alarm. My alarm keeps going off and my car wont start. I bought a new battery and even tried the key in the door still no luck.....

The 2003 Sonata is equipped with a 'starter KILL' burglar alarm system with disables the starting system (using a N/C 'contacts' configuration instead of a N/O contacts configuration). N/C=Normally closed, and N/O=Normally open contacts. When the alarm goes off with a MY Sonata, the only way to DISARM it is with the key fob (remote) originally programmed for it (unless you purchase a new remote & have it programmed for the vehicle at an authorized Hyundai Service Department). NOTE: So long as the keyless entry & burglar alarm system is functioning/operating normally, the alarm will keep going off and the STARTER KILL function will still prevent you from starting the vehicle. One option is left without purchasing a new remote and having it programmed.
1. When the alarm goes off, get into the vehicle and insert the ignition key into the ignition.
2. Turn the key to the 'RUN' position (NOT the ACC position) and wait for the alarm to STOP (usually about 3 to 5 minutes).
3. The engine should then start using the ignition key.

If this procedure doesn't work, the problem will need further diagnosis by a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician.

Hope this helps

Battery in the remote died and now the alarm keeps going off when we try to do anything. we replaced the battery in the remote but the car won't start and the alarm keeps going on

When the alarm goes off, it disables the starter circuit. You'll want to have your key fob (remote) checked for proper operation at an authorized Hyundai Service Department. If you inserted the new battery in backwards, the remote will not work. It also needs to be the remote originally programmed for the vehicle.

The alarm on my 2003 rav4 d4d keeps going off. How can I reset the alarm system?

Do you have a fob?

1. get in the car
2. shut the door
3. place the key in the ignition
4. lock the doors, manually
5. turn the ignition to on then off...do this seven times
6. unlock the doors and try your remote

The above should program your fob into the car's memory.

2001 T & C van, driver side back door will not unlock. Also, I am not sure if thisi srelated but the car alarm keeps going off every few minutes ugghhh!

First, check that you're child safety lock isn't set for that door...If thats not possible then the next culprit might be the alarm FOB battery. IF, its an aftermarket alarm FOB you're in luck...changing the batt should do it...If it IS a factory alarm FOB, you have TWO choices...get a new aftermarket keyless entry system $89-129...or go to the dealer for reprogramming the remote, about $89.

Keyless Remote 2008 RAV4

You can take it back to the dealer, and have them change the battery, or go to Autozone, buy the battery and do it yourself. They can show you how to do it. And which battery it takes. It's not hard to do. Good luck.
