Pure gas on top of the intake, it starts but minute gas runs out, it dies.
SOURCE: Wont start my truck
have a 1997 gm sierra pickup want start new plugs new gas filter have spark at the plug pressure on gas line checked fuses v8 350 2 whell dr
SOURCE: Truck will not run starts to run then sputters out
i just had this problem i changed everything then it turned out too be the fuel pressure regulator !!!!
SOURCE: truck won't stay running
Check the fuel pressure at the Shredder Valve, You should have 60PSI to 65PSI upon start and should drop about 5PSI when running. If your fuel pressure is good then it may be a bad injector system. The fuel injector spider system that the vortec has are know to go bad, from the fuel pressure regulator to the puppet fuel valves. Change the fuel filter first if it has not been changed yet and have the fuel pressure check. Good luck and keep me posed. Note: it's been know that spraying ether to start the vortec with the spider injector system has got the puppet valves to catch fire and melt the ends of the puppet valve leading to the replacement to the whole system. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

To run it must get gas and spark from the plugs. Since you say it does start when pouring gas down it then it seems spark and plugs is not part of the problem...so...you are back to it not getting gas....so...something is amiss with the gas supply....fuel pump, filter (which you said are good...how do you know that for sure)....or...possibly look at the gas itself......has the vehicle been sitting for a long time with very low level of gas in the tank...if so then water can condense in the tank and you might be pumping water to the engine....so...dump a bottle of stuff in the tank that gets rid of water...available at any gas station or auto supply ... contains methonal...which will absorb the water and allow it to be burned in the engine. Still...I doubt that is the problem but it is cheap ($1 to $2) and will not hurt to try. You might actually be flooding the engine with gas by the way you try to start it. I suggest you let it sit for 30 minutes or so....then retry starting it. Use the procedure of NOT pumping the gas pedal but instead slowly push the pedal to the floor and hold it there not moving you foot and then crank the engine until it starts...but not more than 30 seconds at a time with rests in between of at least a few minutes to prevent starter overheat and damage to it. If you had been flooding the engine then this procedure should clear out the flooding and allow it to start. Also, if, as mentioned, the level of gas in the tank is lmost empty then put a little more gas in the tank. Somehow it seems you may not be getting gas or if you are then it is been flooded and will not start. I hope the procedure helps some.
