2005 GMC ENVOY 4.2L VIBRATION PROBLEM AT IDLE AND START UP OR ANY TIME NO ACCELERATING

Feel heavy vibration when sitting at idle, start ups, and any time when not driving down road accelerating. Feel mostly when sitting still in drive when turning the steering wheel either direction but when you start driving you don't feel this vibration at all. We have replaced: harmonic balancer, plugs, variable valve timing solenoid and someone else replaced the motor mounts before it came to us. Can't seem to locate this problem and pouring too much $ into a warranty job!!

There really isn't a groan noise but more of a vibration while sitting still with truck in or out of gear. After changeing the harmonic balancer the vibration got worse!

Hello! After hearing the problem became worse after changing the HB....The issue appears to be a broken Flex Plate...a flexplate consists of a piece of thick sheet metal that bolts to the crankshaft and torque converter...Guru...saailer

I would add that a flex plate is likened to the flywheel in a manual transmission vehicle...saailer

SOURCE: When my 2005 Infiniti G35x

One of the front wheels isn't balanced correctly and its vibrations cause a resonance in the suspension at that speeds. You might also have a look at the shocks - if you have fitted new tires their hardness and misbalance might bring out the weaknesses in the shocks : these vibrations might be the first sign the shocks have aged and will soon have to be replaced.
You just need to have all the wheels balanced and the bushings of the suspension inspected at a tyre shop - a 30 minute/$50 simple job.

SOURCE: severe vibration

Replace balancer. You don't notice them until you rev it up.

SOURCE: steering wheel vibration

Did they "turn" your rotors? They may have "improperly" turned your front rotors. This is common and they should correct this where you had the work done.

Vibration when reaching 120 kph

probably an improperly balanced tire. i would start there. I had vibration in my 2005 envoy and it ended up being both front hub assemblies. Kinda time consuming to put on yourself but I had never done it and got the job done in an afternoon on both sides. But i would run it by a tire shop and have them rebalance the tires first and see to try and save money! hope this helps

Have a gmc vandrura 1994 had a oil change and tune done to it yet it started vibration on idle and on gear and has a rough idle and when I start it up its load and a smal vibration comes and goes idk what...

If it wasn't acting up before the tune-up, one of the spark plugs may have something across the gap, or the gap is incorrect.
Also if more than one spark plug wire was removed at a time it is likely that 2 spark plug wires got crossed, (connected to the wrong spark plug).

From a cold start, will feel a vibration or 'rumbling' in drive but after driving for about 15 min it stops

The best thing to do here is go for a ride with a technican when this occurs.

Have a 1995 ford heavy 250, 7.3 diesel, recently had fan belt replaced and now getting a loud high pitched vibration noise when accelerating it occurs between 1000 and 1500 Rpm and goes away at higher...

sounds like your fan clutch may be failing, remove the drive belt and manually spin all the pulleys by have listen for noise and feel for looseness in the bearings

I have GMC Envoy 2004 model. since few days i have notice that if i drive in a speed more than 100 KMPH, there is a slight vibration. please advise what could be the reason...

possibly a bad u-joint. Sometimes a u joint will feel ok but if it is too tight it can cause a vibration. you will need to remove the shaft to feel if a joint is too tight and binding. Or you have a tire out of balance. Usually a driveline vibration is more of a buzzing high frequency type of vibration the kind that puts your foot to sleep and a tire is more of a wheel speed vibration which is a lower frequency vibration.

Enging vibrating at idle

1) It is very possible your engine mounts can be worn, but

2) the vibration you feel may be also due to the idle itself degrading to the point that the car is shaking. Does the engine sound like it is getting ready to die? what is the engine rpm when you feel the vibration? You may just have a dirty throttle body. In this case, clean the throttle body plate and bore and the problem will go away.

3) did the problem seem to come on suddenly or gradually, if gradually, you may just need some plugs and/or wires, and/or cap/ignition rotor, etc. (a tune up)

4) Also, do you only feel the vibration when the AC system is on?

5) there are some other reasons for abnormal engine vibration at idle, but the above are some of the most common, and simpler to repair.

All the best with the repair!
