Hi I drive a 2001 Jaguar S type 3.0 and I have a problem with my brake and running light and fuel release (not sure if it's related). So my passenger side running tail light does not light up when the headlights are on and when the brake is pressed the brake light lights up but very dim and I get the fail message on the dash. So dim that in the day with headlights off you cant even tell there on. Driver side works perfect. Also my fuel release does not work I have to use the manual pull in the trunk. Fuel fill is same side same cluster of wires. Changed bulbs and checked every fuse in the entire car that's about as far as I can go on my own. Any help would be great.
The lighting system on stype are permanent at batt pos and are grounded by the body controle module located lower lh apost area and suffer from corrosion of wiring and connectors check there may be both probs caused by corroded connectors

take off the cover and replace them. if you have a volt/ohm meter you can put if on the car side and make sure you have voltage and the ohm meter on the buldb should give a 1 rating if its good. it would be the cheapest and easiest to just get a new bulb and see if it works then start checking fuses if its not the bulb.

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

As you have changed the bulb and also checked the fuse, it could be a wiring problem somewhere? Have you looked at the plug that the bulb goes into, is it rusted, are all the wires connected? That'd would be my next place to look.. :)

I have the same problem, the car will turn but will not start, I can hear the fuel pump not working and haved checked all the fuses, still dont know what else to check.
