Replaced fuel filter i.a.c.valve ed plgs and wires
Had this issue with a 2000 V-6 explorer. Check engine light was not on but I thought I would see what was going on as I kept feathering the engine running, hooked up the scanner and ran live data stream. When I got to engine coolant temp. it was reading 8 degree Fahrenheit and only went up to 16 degrees. Since you have to remove the upper intake to get to the engine coolant temperature sensor, I replaced the sensor and the sender. Truck has been running great.....

Open hood and listen for vacuum leak sound. pcv hose is most likley cause.

I had this problem too with my 2004 Explorer
Don't know if it had anything to do with it,but i had washed down the engine compartment the previous afternoon. After having it towed to the dealership they told me it was the throttle body. They replaced it and all is good

What engine code is stored in the computer? You may have a bad TPS (throttle postioning sensor), or a bad O2 sensor. Auto Zone can retrieve the code for you, and tell you what sensor it is related to.
