The ABS light on my 2002 VW Passat shows on the dashboard. This happened after I change the rear brake pads. The dealer tells me a faulty ABS module is the problem, and it will cost over $1K to replace. Any second opinion? Brakes are good, car drives well, everything works well except the ABS light on the dash. There is 165K miles on this car.

SOURCE: Engine warning light and engine vibration 2002 VW Passat

The flashing is telling you that the engine is mis-firing, the dealer will run a test to determine the cylinder that is mis-firing, chances are it is something simple

On one of the front driver side pads there is a sensor for low pads. He either did not hook it back up or got a lose connection to it.

I have a 2002 vw passat and my abs light came on and shut off is this goin to b a problem my car has 97,000 mile

The ABS system means the Anti-lock Brake System. If the ABS lights on the dashboard permanently the ABS system is faulty. You must access the ABS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory to pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ABS ECU, in other words reset the ABS system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

My ABS light and Traction Control light is on my dashboard. I brough tthe car like it, the guy said if I change the rear discs and pads they should go off or be allowed to be turned off. Is this crrect? if...

Not likely replacing pads and rotors will shut it off. Something caused a code to set off usually a sensor error. The car should be scanned to find out what caused the abs to come on.As far as shutting it off most vehicles reset abs everytime the vehicle is started . The car then runs a quick self test on the abs and if it detects an error the light will come back on.

Occasionally when I apply the brakes on my 2001 VW Passat it sounds like the ABS is kicking in even when I am soft braking. The brake pedal vibrates and the car makes a grinding sound. What could be...

I had exactly the same problem with my 2003 tdi, 'scary stuff for sure' Lots of so called experts knew what the problem was, (brake pressure switch).. (ABS sensor at the wheels) .. (ABS control module)..Trial and error and lots of expence for sure, no thanks, keep away from from the backstreet cowboys and go to the people who specialise in VW repairs every day and who know what they are talking about. My main VW dealer sorted it, they found it was a problem with the YAW Sensor located under the rear seat, they cleaned it and checked it and reset it etc, they didn't even charge me ( I did have a new clutch and 2 outer CV joints fitted at the time) and now it seems ok, hasn't happened since, actually this seemed to happen more often when I had 2 or 3 people sitting in the back seat and the ESP light came on at the same time, hope you sort it soon

How do you fix abs brakes?

If your having a abs check light on then you will need to have your system scanned with a abs code scanner, go to your vehicle dealer for this service , repairs can also be made there, remember it's brakes which are about safety so if you are unsure of your ability in this area don't risk it , it is not worth saving a buck for sacrificing saftey...

2002 VW passat wagon brakes

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

Brake/ABS/Traction lights on plus no AC

These problems do not seem to be related at all. The cause of the warm ac air could be several things from a low refrigerant charge to a plugged condensor fins to the compressor clutch not kicking in. You just have to follow a systematic approach when diagnosing these problems.
