1997 Sebring Shift Solenoid pack

Disconnect your battery's neg terminal for 10 minutes and reconnect it, after you clear the fault codes once more with a fault code reader.

solenoid body above filter may have a stuck valve.

if your refering to the solenoid pack in the valve body then you first drain trans, remove pan, remove old gasket(do not discard unless you have a new gasket or the old is reusable.) only remove bolts that are pertaining to the removal of pack and or vavle body, remember what bolts go where, an then install is reversal of removal.

no idea was the fault their before you started ??which is why you changed the solonoids in the first place

When any electrical solenoid or circuit goes down, the ****** will still have the default gears of reverse, and second gear. You could unplug all the wires from any automatic ******, and you will still have the default, or ''limp in'' gears , to get you home or to the garage. If you have no forward or reverse, then you have a major internal ****** problem.

Your problem is most likely the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid valve. Check Fuse and Related wiring, if all looks OK, remove transmission pan to get to the TCC Solenoid. The solenoid packs are known to leak. You will need to remove:

• The transmission cooling lines
• the Speed Sensor,
• the plug on the solenoid block,
• the 3 tenmm bolts on the top of the Solenoid pack,
• the solenoid pack,
• old gasket (the new pack comes with new gasket)

Install

• The new Solenoid Pack,
• the new gasket ,
• the Speed Sensor and,
• Transmission Cooling Lines

Start vehicle, check Transmission fluid level, check for proper shifting and have computer reset.

The shift solenoid is a valve that controls shift timing.
The solenoid pack is located inside the transmission on top of the valve body.

It looks like this...

1997 dodge truck 4x4 shifts good when cool but not when warms up, is it the shift solenoid?and how much is it too fix it?

I do not have the data for this model but I will try to give some general idea. There is a shift lock solenoid under shifter assembly. The shifter will not shift unless the brake is depress and the key is on. A module or computer recognizes this info and activate solenoid. Easy step is to check all fuses first.

thats the problem....it doesnt. the manual i have is a haynes....all it says about the tranny is that mechanical issues are outside the scope of support of the manual. its absolutly useless.....
