Charge the vattery and wait for the immobilizer system to "time out" (may take about 30 minutes). At that time, it will start if you are using the correct key for the vehicle.

P.S. You may also have to lock the doors and then unlock them using the remote to reset the immobilizer.

SOURCE: rear turn signal and hazard light don't flash (left side only)

The rear left turn signal bulb must be replaced immediatly before it melts the light socket, if it has'nt yet. Also please verify that the correct light bulb is being installed. because even though many bulbs look the same they are not identical. Installing the wrong bulb can be the begining of many, many problems in the particular circuit

Car cranks but will not start

first thing take the 120 amp fuse out and throw it away
the 100 amp fuse was installed originally to protect the wiring and other related parts
next by connecting to the wrong terminals there is a power surge that can damage the electronics in the ECM unit and alternator
removing a battery for a charge can corrupt the immobiliser system
I would suggest that you use a scanner to read any fault codes that may be stopping the engine and then reset the CPU program in the ECM to reset the immobiliser

How can you bypass an antitheft system on a 2002 tdi jetta?

If it is not a new key fob, it sounds to me like the immobilizer is activated. So, all the lights on the dash are working now? Is there a flashing key on the dash lights? One of the resets that works is put the key fob in, and turn ignition on without starting it, and leave it 15 minutes. And try again.

My car wont start and the immobilser ligth is on

do you hear a click when you try to start the car, if so this means the starter motor has stuck & can be sorted with a few hard whacks with a hammer, as for the immobilizer light, take off both the + & - battery leads & bind them together so that the terminals are touching each other, leave for over an hour & this should reset the cars ecu & remove the immobilizer light problem.

Is the anti-theft deterrant system the same system as the engine immobiliser or are they completely different?

Hello Jaclyn... Your Camry has an "engine immobilizer" designed to prevent "hot-wire" starting incorporated into the anti-theft system...This was standard on the XLE, & an available option on the LE. When the battery cable came off the immobilizer lost it's memory & is not reckoning the chip in the key. Try locking and closing all the doors. Then unlock the drivers door with the key. Repeat this several times, also tap the brake & gas pedal. If this does not help the dealer will have to reset it by the vehicles VIN number.
I hope this information is helpful.

Ecu blocked and immobiliser activated

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel. Do you have this warning symbol lightning on the dashboard?

tdisline_775.jpg

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

Use another ignition key that you have, and start the engine.

You will need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

My 5litre 1997 vs commadore drives for about ten minuites then the engine light comes on and the ignition cuts out.it restarts after 15mins.is this a problem with my immobiliser and how do i deactivate it?

No, it's not an immobilizer problem - an immobilizer would simply cut the power to the ECM or lock it from the start and the security light (not the engine one) will flash (not remain permanently lit). BTW the immobilizer reset works for 120 minutes, not 10.
No, you have a bad contact in the wiring of the engine : the engine heats up, the contact's metal parts expand and break contact so the sensor powered by that contact shuts down and the ECM detects that as a fault and shuts down the engine. Have the error codes read, it will tell you which is the faulty sensor - find it and fix its contacts.

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:

Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

Interesting problem.. since not US spec. Is there a 'remote keyless (fob)' programmed for this vehicle? That's the only way to DE-arm the immobilizer (anti-theft) feature (based on US specs). Unless you have this key fob (keyless entry remote... which must also be programmed for this vehicle), the only other way is wait 5 minutes with the existing key in the ignition, then it should start (US specs). You will still need to have an 'ACTIVE' keyless remote programmed for this vehicle... otherwise, you'll continue to run into this problem.
