After locking keys in my 2006 xj8 I was able to get in by removing the drivers door panel, disconnecting the rod from the key cylinder to the lock switch, and then moving the lever on the lock switch. The car thinks it was unlocked with the key so the security/valet lock out is removed and the regular trunk button works again. This is a pretty simple solution.

SOURCE: Can I get into my car from the trunk?

No. The rear seat is clipped in and also has two 10mm bolts that can be accessed from the interior of the car.

If you have rear seats that fold down you can access the latch mechanism from the left side rear seat....if you are flexible. pull the corner of the seat forward to allow your arm to slide in behind. about 14-16" in, feeling up inside the trunk you can feel 3 quarter size holes in the sheet metal. The second hole has the cable release arm. stick your finger up there are pull towards you. this will release the seat allowing it to fold down. Crawl into the trunk. there is a glow in the dark release handle on the inside of the trunk lid to open the trunk. Note, these are instructions for an '04 corolla but I think it should work

SOURCE: The keys are locked in the trunk. a lock smith

Remove the back seat. Back seat has two parts, bottom section that you sit on and back section. In between the bottom and back sections there are two bolts, feel for them and then remove. Once removed the bottom section can be pulled out. Then you can see the hinge at the bottom of the back section, remove bolts at the bottom and then you can lift up and access the trunk.

I have a 2010 chevy impala the battery is completely dead i need to get into my trunk but cant open trunk with key and i dont think my back seats open to trunk

You can trash the trunk lock or removing the back seat to see if it opens into the trunk.
And if you cannot open the trunk lock with a key you better consider getting a new lock and key combo.

I have a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix. I can't get trunk open. Was advised that cable connecting to trunk lock was broken. What is this cable called. Where located.

Sorry, but the seat release in the trunk. So you have to pull the bottom up an out. then remove the bolts that hold the back down. then lift it up to to release it. If the seat belts go threw it, then you need to have some one hold it as you go threw it . when in the trunk there is a yellow handle to pull to open the trunk. Once it is open you have to remove the latch, then remove the key lock. First modify the lock to fit your key or buy another one. then you need to find out why the latch doesn't work. This could be the latch, wiring, BCM, or the switch. Most importantly, is that the key works.

Locked keys inside trunk

Hi Damon:
Here's some ideas.
1) Is there a spare key anywhere?
2) If you get the VIN # from inside the windshield, can a dealer give you a key code so that you can get one cut?
3) Check with a locksmith to see if they can "pick" the lock.
4) If the car is not locked, can you remove the back seat to get into the trunk?

Corolla trunk

Wrong keys or wrong car?. lOL
the cable release won't work if the trunk kew was in lock horizontal position. It needs to be vertical when key is removed. More penetrating fluid and try to force key rocking back and forth in and out. Use lots of wd40 or penetrating fluids and repeat. This will work. Also make sure you are using a master key only. Black top.

Trunk wont open and the back seat wont fold down on our kia optim

By switching the lever you locked the inside trunk release, you will need to put lever back. as far as the trunk you may need to remove the rear seat, pop lower part out and then remove the bolts to the top half of the seat then try to reach the lever so it will open from the inside. i've found that many of these cars with the pop lever inside have sticking trunk locks from not being used, what you do first is spary lock good, with wd40 or pb blaster then slide key in and out and try to turn this may take a whhile but it works then tumbler will free up, you just have to keep spraying inside lock and working the key.

Keys lock in trunk alarm will not allow trunk switch to lock

The solution is to pull out the back seat to get into the trunk. There are two bolts holding the bottom part of back seat (bolts located between bottom and top sections). Then pull out bottom section of back seat and you see the hinge for the top section, remove the bolts and then you can lift up and access the trunk. It's not that hard.
