Have you checked fuse? Or it may be the motor you didn't specify vehicle make and model I'm assuming it's not old enough to have vacuum wipers

SOURCE: 1997 cadillac deville delagance - anti theft device

I've got a 97 deville d'elegance that has issues similar to these. Last year the red anti-theft light came on and the car wouldn't start-took it to the dealership and they replaced the PCM? (the main brain for the system) for $900...the guy told us the wiring was so corroded he didn't want to mess with it much. Today the message started flashing on the dash that says "anti-theft problem/ car may not restart" but it still turned over in the driveway a couple times so I am hoping I can reset it. The wiring system is jacked and will probably need to replace the wiring harness completely. Doubt its worth it. Not a secure feeling with 2 babies in the back seat in the middle of winter....

Windshield wipers stopped working. Windshield wipers are stuck in the up position. Is there a way to get them down until I can get them fixed?

You can either remove the motor, which will let the wiper transmission move freely to the down position. Or remove the wiper arms from the pivots. You do not want to try and force the arms down while the motor is attached as this will just bend the transmission arms and cause you a great head ache.

2007 wipers stopped working mid wipe

If you can move them freely with no resistance then the linkage from the motor to the wiper arms could have came off. Or the motor is shot

The windshield wipers on my 2003 Sedona stopped working and you can hear a knocking noise every minute or so. they move freely by hand. the back wiper works fine.

You need to remove the front panel under the windscreen under the bonnet and check if wiper links are connected.

The wipers on my daughter's car just stopped moving. The motor is working and I can look in the cowling and see a part of the linkage turning but the wipers wont move. They move freely when move them by...

It sounds like both wipers have let go at the outer connection of the arm. It just needs to be retightened there after you pick up the swinging cover. The metal is very soft here and is design to let go if they ice up so as not to break. You will have to position the wipers coorectly.

Rear wiper and washer of BMW 5 E39 not working

I had the same problem. I thought it was an issue with a blown fuse, but also noticed that the rear wiper was very stiff.
I solved it by opening the rear window (so the wiper is not clicked into the motor) then squirt some WD40 into the wiper mechanism (I put the oil in from the outside). Gently move the wiper from side to side until it starts to free up - after a couple of movements the wiper should be moving freely again. No issues since.

At the same time, check that the washer jet is correctly angled. Mine was squirting directly into the wiper which may have caused it to rust up a bit.

Wipers wont work

1.  Turn on your wipers and pop your hood.   2.  If you hear you wiper motor, then you do not need to check your fuses. 3.  If your wiper arms are moving freely, then your linkage from the wiper arms to the motor is disconnected and possibly broken.   4.  If the problem is electrical, do the following:      1.  Check the fuse, and check for power at the fuse.      2.  Check the wiper motor for ground. For a complete circuit, you need power going in and ground               coming out.  Check electrical connections for corrosion or poor connections.       3.  Get a wiring schematic and trace power to the wiper motor starting at the fuse box in the                       following order:           Fuse box           wiper switch           wiper motor      4.  In the rarest of cases a wiper motor or wiper switch is at fault.  I do not recommend replacing                 anything unless you have proof that the part is faulty. (ie. power going into the switch but nothing           coming out.)
