''TICKING'' SOUNDS WHEN ACCELERATING AND STOPING

Hi guys

I'm riding 1999 carrera conv" with 35,000 miles.
This noises are very similar to the engine cooling "ticks" that you can hear when you turn the engine off after hard driving, but only louder.
It happend when accelerating and stopping and it looks like it comes from the back of the car.

Thank you for your help,

Shay

The exhaust was always good for making noises under hard driving as it expands with heat than contracts under cooling but like carlo says more info required

Pound ticking noise when my 99 durango starts goes away after the engine warms up

The ticking noise could be a faulty hydrulic valve lifter. When last was the oil & filter changed, it coul be that the oil is thick and not going through to the lifters and when it warms up the oil is thin. It could be that the engine is need of an overhaul as 148.000 miles is 238.182 Kilometers and that is a hi milage.

I have a stock '02 RSX-S with 93K miles.I recently started hearing a ticking sound coming from the engine while accelerating at low rpm's in any gear (i can hear it at higher rpm's too, but at that point...

Sounds like an Exhaust Manifold leak on only one cylinder. The Gasket is probably blown out. Check around where manifold is bolted to the engine. Any leaks are usually evident by a black sooty deposit.

Vortec 4.3 Ticking that is present at start-up and speeds up as I accelerate, what would cause this?

If you have good oil pressure, a few things come to mind, first it could be a loose rocker, secound it could be a woren or broken rocker, third it could be a weak or calaps lifter. If it sounds like its lower in the engine like around the oil pan it could be a rod or maine problem. But you say its a ticking noise witch leads me to believe its a valve trane problem.

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited that is making a rattling/ticking noise under the hood and I cannot figure out what it is! We did an oil change and added Rislone, it quieted it some but not...

how many miles on it,sounds like lifter noise which is normal for high mileage jeeps, but if you have over 140k it is not a good idea to run synthetic oils as they are thinner than conv oil and it might start to consume oil.

Valve ticking

It is not a valve. It is the purg selinoid for the evaporator. It is a normal noise and will not cause any problems. I have the same issue on my 300C. They may have redesigned it on the 08 and newer to get rid of the ticking noise. Chrysler has had many complaints about this noisey selinoid

1992 side kick

problem here is a ticking to one is a knock or a tap or a thud ect to others so of my experiance with engines if its a ticking that gets louder with the engine getting warmer its got to be the tappets its the only thing that would get louder if it gets louder when accelerating it could be ignition timming causes pinking most other things on engines that cause ticking sounds could be something catching fuel pumps cause a ticking noise but are not normally affected by engine temp yates210456
