I suspect my 1999 mountaineer blend door actuator is not operating properly. Max a/c is activated and blows heat. Vent is activated and blows heat also. Where is the actuator located? How do I test it

A/C ran pefectly upon using one minute and failed at the start up the next 10 minutes. I currently hear the actuator operating without gear clogs noise so, I therefore, don't suspect gear failure. I would like to test the blend door actuator but don't know where is it located. Please help. Thanks

SOURCE: Headlights cut out after being on 10 to 15 minutes

I had the same exact problem. I found that I could make the lights come on by pushing on the top connector on the front side of the lighting control module (LCM). I pulled the connector off, cleaned it and put it back together with some dielectric grease. Only time will tell if I fixed it. On my car, it would only have problems after the headlights had been on for about 3 hours; kind of hard to re-create.

SOURCE: 2003 Mountaineer won't start, battery is good.

CHECK BATTERY CABLES AND FOR CORROSION,A BAD GROUND OR BAD CONNECTION WILL CREATE ENOUGH RESISTANCE TO PREVENT STARTER TO CRANK OVER ENGINE. IF BATTERY HAS 12V DOESN'T MEAN IT'S GOOD,IT COULD HAVE ON 100 CCA'S, NOT ENOUGH.

R vent on 1999 pontiac Montana wont blow air

I will assume you mean no heat or A/C (if your A/C works) will come out the vents when you move your Fan switch..If your blower is blowing but nothing is coming out your vents chances are its a bad Blend door actuator ..most auto parts stores carry them and they can be a pain to remove and install but most diy can do it no problem

How do I change the blend door actuator on 2005 mountaineer

Get under the dash & remove the 3 screws
holding the Vent Blend Door Motors on

Have about 5 of them

They are on the Motorcraft Web Site, with a diagram &
part numbers

You buy them from Amazon (Motorcraft OE Part)

If you use a scan tool in enhanced mode & look at the
HVAC Module, you will see the code & know which one
has failed

Need to try every manual setting & use your diagram,
to also see which location doesn't switch air flow

Air conditioner will not switch over to heat

This sounds like the blend door actuator. This is a little door in the vent box down under the passenger side dash that opens and closes to change the vent temperature from heat to a/c. It is a little motor that opens the door. It tends to stop working due to the elements that it is in. I hope this helps!! Thanks!!

2004 mountaineer when changing from hot to cold in climate control. There is something banging under dash. cannot get to go back to heat.

If I understand your problem, what you actually hear is a "clicking" sound. If I am correct, your unit only blows out cold air. If so, your problem is the "Heating & AC blend door actuator. It is a small plastic box that contains plastic gears. The unit receives an electric signal to change positions, but the broken cogs prevent the unit from operating properly. A quick check to determine if this is your problem, turn the heater on. Adjust the temperature from heat to air. At some point the noise will stop.
