Breaks stopped working. I put in more break fluid. They worked for a little over a week then the fluid was empty again. Now within only a 10 mile round trip the fluid is empty and breaks are gone. I think it is the slave cylinder on the passenger side. How can I tell before having to take it all apart?
Yes you have a leak in a line or a wheel cylinder or your proportional valve or caliper it might help to tell us what kind of vehicle you are driving but if it's a line get the same size line and 2compression unions and a tubing cutter if other components then replace good luck Stephen
No its a brake line .You need to look for what is leaking and ware .The best way is to cut out the bad spot with a tubing cutter get a short peace of line the same diameter you will have to get a flaring tool but don't worry about double flaring the new tube the new connector will seal but you will have 2 flairs
SOURCE: Break Fluid Leaking, empties every three days
You should be able to look around each tire and see where it is coming from, let me know if any of them have brake fluid on them, if so it is a brake cylinder leaking, if the leak is somewhere else than I may can help you with that, oh and when you do find the problem I can probably save you some money on the repairs.
SOURCE: the break tube from the right tire has rotted off
The front brake tube rotting off would cause you to have no pressure and letting the pedal hit the floor. The smoke from your rear tire is an indication that the rear brakes are not working properly, only one wheel is braking and it is overheating.
You can replace the front line yourself, but it has to have the air bled out after the new line is put on. Chances are pretty good that you need a whole lot more than just one line though. You'll be smart to replace both front lines. There is a good chance that the bleeder screws on the front calipers will break when you try to bleed them so be careful.
You would be wise to take it to a shop and have it checked over before you start to find out exactly what all you need to replace before you start.
This truck is DANGEROUS to be driving and should be fixed right away. If you are involved in an accident, your brakes will automaticly put you at fault and you could have some hefty bills because of that,so be careful. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: auto transmission slips then grabs
first thing i would try is changing the transmission fluid out and filter, i beleive its almost 8 quarts. use a full quart of lucas transmission additive with the new fluid. if this doesn't help, the transmission will either need replaced or rebuilt
SOURCE: break goes down lower then normal but the breaks
I it is usually the brake shoe adjusters at the rear.
Auto adjust type:
To adjust them you can hold your foot hard down on the brake pedal and wrech up the park brake lever a few times
Manual adjust
Drums off and wind the adjuster cog to increase the diametre of the shoes, don't get carried away thow or the drum wont go back on

Check your parking brake. if it goes down to the floor or does not hold, then your back brakes needs adjusted. bad master cylinders bleed off slowly to the floor while pushing on the brake pedal. If you need assistance on adjusting let me know.
