My 2003 cts while playing a cd last night decided that it would not play any longer i then got the MECH ERROR and tried to eject and nothing happend , it sounds like its trying to eject the cd but nothing is happening , I have tried disconnecting battery and letting it reset but now its not even recognizing the cd changer at all when i use the source button?
Hi, Worst thing you done was to remove the battery, but ref: CD player look under the volume control (on/off) you should find a very small hole enough for a paper clip to be pushed in & eject the cd check your fuse since removing battery may have caused quick short touched & blown fuse. Please give feedback at [email protected] Thanks, Malcolm Campbell.

I had the same problem. You have to take it to the dealer and they have a trade-in program. I forget what the price was, it will cost you around $400 and the unit they will put in is refurbished. But I have not had any problems with the refurbished unit. They have known about the problems with the CD player but it still costs the consumer money.

the computer knows that input data from a system has a problem,so disconnecting the battery will not help.
that is the procedure for working on it so that the airbags do not deploy.
a code scanner will tell you which part of the system, including a seatbelt latch, tensioner, or seat position sensor is defective.

The best way would be to remove the player from it's current location and remove the cover from the player. That is,if you're wanting to salvage the cd.If you're just needing to remove it,this can be done with a fingernail file or a typical letter opener.
