High engine rev at all times

My car is reving extremely high rpm's (4000) at all times even with start up and driving, goes done during gear change when my foot is on clutch then revs right back up. I have already changed the TPS( throttle position sensor and did not help. What would cause this? I am as a loss? Thanks

On my 2001 Hyundai elantra I have a very high engine rev at all times, I have changes the throttle position sensor, and today changed the idle speed control sensor, prior to changing the idle speed control sensor it was only reving at intervals now it stays revved at 5000 rpm's at all times, we cleaned the throttle body to. Car is manual ******, can someone tell me what might be causing this? I am at a loss,

Not a idle speed control sensor, it was a idle speed control actuator that we just changed today. If anyone has any idea what would cause this I would greatly appreciate any information. Thank you

Idles high from first to second gear .

Define idles high like its going high rpms before shifting or the engine itself is high reving if its high rpming when shifting its mostly you tranny going out you can try tranny fix oil I used it on my truck when it had shifting problems and ive had no problems since it takes a few days to work though and if its the motor itself it could be a lot of things but I dont know much of the problem based on what you told us

I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer. I am having problems with it.... Rough start and when in gear... say at a stop light.. it is idling high.I also just had to change 1 of the coil packs. It was missing...

The idle is controlled by the computer

So any vacuum leaks & the computer is
trying to correct for a lean fuel condition

You may also have several bad cop ignition
coils

My question to you is----you just had a coil or some type
of work done

Why was the truck not properly diagnosed, road tested &
component tested all at one time

That is what I do,until every part of the entire powertrain
is 100%,all data perfect & all driveability issues gone --I stay
with it,once & done

With that I say some shop don't do well or even like fords

I drive a 2003 VW GTI. Theres a high rev sound after 3rd gear. Sounds like the engine is high reving and gets louder when the car gets faster even when shifting into a higher gear.

It needs rebuilding. The upper gear(s) are not locking in, so your likely wearing out your clutch when you drive fast. Get it rebuilt.

I have a 1997 gmc serria 1500 4x4 5.7l i replaced the iac motor and it still reves up high could it be the tps

When replacing the IAC it is a self learning item the computer will teach. You need to do this to fix this problem first since you DID replace it. Have the engine good and cold (not hot) let set three hours if warm. Now we are ready. Place the parking brake on. Start the engine. Put your foot firmly on the brake. Put the car in drive. You will not go anywhere for the next proceedure. I do hope you have a tachometer. You will need to rev the engine in gear between 1100 & 1299 RPM's and hold it there for 5 minutes. This is the proceedure to have the self learning codes from the switch to the vehicles computer stored. When your done this truck should idle at 800 rpm's

Choke coming on even in summer, is this right

it seems that your coolant temp senor is what causing this to happen it's natural inless it revs really high and stays above 1100 rpm's after the engine heats up.
