2004 dodge durango engine shuts off while driving

My engine shut off when I was slowing to make a turn. I replaced a dead battery yesterday and this morning the engine shut off. I may have been driving for 10 mins. at about 50 miles per hour. Please help as this problem can be very scary.

I had this happen to me before. My battery had went out and I had put another in (didn't buy a new one-- it was holiday). It did this exact thing to me. The scary part is once, it was on the interstate going about 75 mph... didn't die but all gauges went to nothing. It turned out that the battery I was using didn't have enough cold cranking amps and was pulling down the alternator too much so the computer shut it down. The one time it didn't... it was because the RPH's were too high. Try checking the battery and alternator... make sure you have the right battery and have an alternator shop test your alternator if the battery is good.

Should the fan stay on when i turn the car off on a 2004 durango 4.7?

Yes, it stays on because not all the heat from the engine has been safely evacuated to a tolerable level before the engine was shut down .

My dodge durango(2003) shut off on me when i was driving yesterday. Engine cranks but doesn't start. Relays and fuses are all good. any ideas?

It sounds like the fuel pump has failed, I'd start by checking the fuel pressure. Turn everything off so you hear whether on not the fuel pump runs when you turn the key to "on". The pump should run for 3-5 seconds and the stop and it won't start running again, until you turn the key to "start".

Check your PCM a very common issue among Durangos See if there is any type of error code in the odometer. If 'no bus' is shown it is your PCM the main computer and your looking at about $500-$800 to replace it. to get it started try unhooking the battery cable for a few minutes and then hooking it back up
