1995 mitsubishi eclipes turns off without warning while driving?
Crank runs rough cuts off, crank again all is fine, drive, shuts off without warning, re-crank runs fine. In the process of the shut off the fuel pump shuts off.

Hi out telstar was doing that type of carry on and it finally died on the side of the road much to my wifes disgust . it ended up being the crank sender failing and cooking the ignition module. it was about $600 to fix but that was a few years back now. good luck

Have you had it hooked up to a scan tool ? check sensor data ! Your vehicle has no cold start valve . Black smoke out the back indicates a rich condition , holding gas pedal to the floor causes the engine computer to go into WOT mode shutting off the injectors . Suggest you do injector leak down test , leaking fuel injectors ! Ever replace fuel injectors ?
The engine is not designed to run without the turbo. Fuel pump recirculates fuel to the tank to control pressure while driving and engine is running so poorly fuel is being diluted. Fix the turbo.
Had similar problem with 97 Plymouth Neon. It turn out that the Crank Shaft Position Sensor was failing, since I replaced it the car has been running smooth with no problems.
