Every single 2006 gs300 will have this problem, and even after it has been "fixed" it's going to happen again due to the intake valves not being washed by incoming fuel. The design of the engine is a poor design and shouldn't have never been put out to production and sold to anybody. Lexus extended the warranty for this problem for 9 years and will not do a single thing for you if you're even one day out of the 9 years. Every single 06 gs300 should have been replaced with a completely different car under the lemon law the moment they realized the problem, but to save the money lexus just swept it under the rug leaving hundreds of thousands of their customers with a lemon.

you might have a small oil leak. park on a peice of cardboard overnight. in the morning remove it and look to see if any oil drips are present.

We have a 2006 Lexus GS 300. (41,000) miles. We have an appointment Monday with Lexus for the knocking noise coming from the engine. Its so bad when your at a red light it sounds like a diesel truck. Now...

Check your oil. If it is milky/tannish, then all signs point to the possibility of a cracked engine block. I hope not. That would mean a new or rebuilt engine and probably a few thousand$$$. Hope it's something else, friend.

I have a 2006 GS 300 lexus that I can't get oil in it, it is not leaking where is it going? It has 130 K miles, Lexus says it need a engine. I bought it brand new and Lexus did all the services. Lexus...

There are no known issues with any LEXUS manufactured after '02 that would cause this issue by default. If you are burning oil, and its not leaking out, then one of two things is happening. 1. Its getting into your coolant system. (in this case, check your coolant system for a oil layer. TO FIX THIS you mill have to replace the block / i.e. get a new engine if you want it to last.) 2. Its getting into your valve chamber and burning with the fuel. (in this case, a gap has formed within the valve system letting in oil and can be identified by white smoke from the exhaust. TO FIX THIS you must replace head gasket and rings)

Is my Lexus a piece of junk? I have a 2006 Lexus GS 300. It needs aligning every time I get the oil changed! After 18000 miles I need a new set of tires. The wires are showing. Lexus is doing...

Yes your car is a piece of junk. Sorry, not trying to be rude but it's a lemon as well as every single 2006 gs300. Not because the front end alignment issue but because the engine is garbage. If you haven't had the $6k piston ect. Engine rebuild you will soon, and if you have had it done sooner or later you're gonna have to have it done again and by now the extended warranty for that problem is up or almost up on your car. Bottom line the engine is junk and lexus doesn't stand by their product.

What kind of oil can i use in my 1999 gs 300 is synthetic oil better or jus use regular oil which do u perfer?

Synthetic oil is better than carbon based oil because it is cleaner, lasts longer, more efficient & wont leave carbon build up like conventional oil. But if you ran regular oil for quite awhile, your engine will have carbon build up. Synthetic oil breaks up the buildup. That is good. Bad thing is sometimes that buildup is keeping you from leaking or burning oil. If you switch to synthetic oil keep an eye on oil consumption. If you start using or leaking it out of gaskets or seals, you will need to get it out & put in regular oil. If not, you can go longer between oil changes & your engine will run more efficiently for a longer period of time.

04 Grand Prix oil leak

if it is not leaking then it is being burned by the engine, how many miles go by before you need to add oil?, if u are adding more than one quart every 1000 miles u have piston reing problems and or valve guide seal leaks. U won't see any smoke in most cases unless you are really going through the oil, like 1 quart every 300 miles.

Lexus RX300 with 95000 miles uses a quart of oil every 400 miles

My 2001 was having the same issue. I replaced the PCV valve and it fixed the problem. Total Cost 5.00. It is easily accesable but you may have difficulty finding it. It is located Left Rear Top of engine (Passenger side). Its brass and it screws in. I went online at my library and found diagram at this location. http://content.chiltonsonline.com/Repair/PrintView.aspx.

How to change the maintenance light in a 2006 GS 300

Chris,

I know you have the solution by now by Im submitting this post anyway.

To reset the oil maintence:

Have the car in a secure location with the engine off

1. Press the ingition button once, do not have your foot on the break pedal
2. Make sure you have the instrument cluster (panel on left hand side below gauges) open
3. The button marked "reset" depress it for 30 seconds and the "oil maintenance," should be reset.

Hope that helps.
