If no keyway then it doesnt matter what way they go back on ,what you do is bring engine to TDC with screwdriver down the plug hole then turn it back a bit then mount cams with the locating marks on the back of the cams which normally are a slot thats level with the head ,inlet valve on no1 should be up and to the left and the exhaust up and to the right then look at the slots if all aligned up the bring the piston on no1 up to the top and fit the belt ,leave the bolts in the cams and the crank loose tighten the belt then tighten the bolts in the cams as i dont think this engine has the old fashioned keyways but just a taper .

SOURCE: Fitting cam shafts on Volvo 850se 1994 20v 2ltr

There is a special tool that mechanics use for the alignment of the camshaft pullys. It is basically an angle iron straight edge that fit exactly into the camshft grooves.. Just make sure that the engine 's first cylinder is at the top. (Top dead center) before fitting the cam(s) into place.

Hello
This all depends on the year and the model and the type of engine you have.

Head was pulled without marking gears or ignition. how do i start from scratch

You need to turn the engine over and bring it up to top dead center (TDC). Aline your put the chain or belt on. The crank gear will be on you just will need to aline the cam gear as I believe it is overhead cam. Do NOT force the cam gear to turn as you can bend your valves. When you are putting in the distributer as you slide it in it will rotate a bit. Make sure it is alined to where your rotor will be faceing to the #1 position on the cap. I hope you understand. If need be I can look up the timing marks for the cam for you just post a comment if you need. When I say to bring to TDC you turn the engine over to where the # 1 piston is to the top of the cylinder. Hope this helped and good luck.

Replaced crank shaft 99 blazer, how do I orientate the crank shaft to the cam? I have set the arrow on the cam gear down turned crank till number 1 piston is very near TDC in alinement with V on the crank...

4.3 liter, right? I think you have it right--see pic below. So it cranks but no fire happening? Did you check firing order, etc.? Getting sparks? Fuel pump coming on? Injectors firing? If you had the engine out of the car, make sure you got all the ground wires back in place, etc.

I need help to replace the timing belt well theres two rubbers its the lower rubber that broke. HELP PLEASE....

Well my friend first I need to know a little bit more. Now when you say rubbers, what do you mean? Your timing belt and gears consist of a cam shaft gear or sprocket, a crank shaft gear, and a tensioner located under the valve cover and behind the timing cover that is behind the crank shaft pulley. Can you help better understand which rubber thing broke?

Balance shaft alinement marks on honda 2.3 litre engine

set it to top dead center. there's an access hole to put a 4" or 100mm pin to keep the balance shaft from moving when replacing a timing belt. The other marks are at the cam and crankshaft pulleys.

Or remove #1 cylinder spark plug, put a wooden rod against the piston, when it is at the top of it's travel and goes neither up or down, it is at top dead center. The balance shaft locking pin can then be inserted.

Timing marks for the Dodge 2.4L caravan, 2000

To align both sets of timing marks, turn engine crankshaft to the right with belt on cam and crank. Once you have done this the crankshaft alignment mark (on front of crankshaft gear) will line up with mark to the rear of gear on engine block. The two cam gear timing marks should be alines across from one another. The right cam gear is the intake side and the left side is the exhaust side. After removing the belt turn the exhaust cam down 1/2 notch. Timing mark on exhaust 1/2 notch down from the intake side. Install new belt and recheck everything to make sure it's all correct. Hope this will help you.

Replacing camshaft position sensor, Sable 2003,Ohv

usually if the magnet in the sensor comes out it destroys the cam position shaft,(it should have a half moon shape when u remove the sensor from the cam pos/oil pump drive. if the half moon is damaged or missing u must replace the cam pos/oil pump drive, and yes it is timed with the engine. wot i have done is try to locate where the half moon was on the drive it usually leave a trace of where it was. now index where the half moon is at remove hold down bolt and remove the driver assy. install the new drive, clock the half moon shaft to match the one u just removed once u get the half moon shaft where u want it and the oil pump rod alines and the whole housing is down install the hold down clamp. now to get rid if that check engine lite youll have to plug a scanner in and look at the live data adjust the cam position till u have plus or minus 2 degrees
