You can't just install a rod new bearing, wish it was that easy, the crankshaft must be removed and regound (it will be damaged) or the new bearing will just quickly fail.

2001 grand am back seat down

When a vehicle is in 3 feet of water, the electrical
is usually damaged to the point that the vehicle
is scrapped
The vehicle is 12 years old or more,so even without
the water in there, it has some wear & you can use google
to check for bulletins of known engine issues, but I don't
think your going to fix that, even without the water issues.
The motor would have to come apart to find the issue & you
may rebuild it & never know

How do I change a piston rod on a pontiac grandam? Can I gfo through the bottom if I remove the oil pan, or do I need to go through the top?

You can't go through the bottom because the crankshaft will be in your way as well as the balance shaft assembly. The pan and balance shafts need to be removed in any case so you can disconnect the rod from the crankshaft. But, the cylinder head needs off come off to get the piston out.
Big job and generally you are better off replacing the engine.
I know it's a tough decision but I actually scrapped a 2000 last year that was in otherwise perfect condition rather than be bothered with the aggrivation of doing that job!!! And, I do this for a living!!!

I get a squeaking noise when i turn the steering wheel right or left. replaced struts, and stablizer link rod on 2001 ford escape

I have a 2002 Escape V6. I had a squeak when turning... even when standing still. It was fairly low mileage: 40,000 miles?
It was the outer tie rod. You could feel it squeak in your hand while someone else turned the steering wheel.
I disconnected the tie rod. I wasn't worn, just squeaky. I squirted a little WD40 inside the boot, and worked it in. Reassembled and squeak gone.
I bought a replacement tie rod, but never had to put it on. I'm now at 110,000 miles.
