gets drained just siting a day. Have bought 2 new batterys, I know it is not a bad battery. Something is draining it.

I am experiencing the same problem. Have been through two new batteries and it is still being drained by something. I was also told I needed a head gasket job at 56,000. I did it and hope I really needed it. Any suggestions other than taking it back to Land Rover. I really do not want to get rid of this car but it is becoming a money pit. Any suggestions?

What you need to do is disconnect you negitive battery cable and have a test light to connect the circuit. now if you have a drain on your battery the light should be lit.
now with your light lit you need to start to remove fuses and find the circuit that is the problem.
let me know what you find

Battery light stays on after changing battery, alternater & plugin.

Is the system charging? You should have 14.2 14.6 volts at the battery. The charge light is controlled by the alternator internally. If the charging system is working, you could have a bad diode inside the alternator keeping the light on or a short/grounded circuit to the battery light

My 2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo won't stay charged

Trouble shooting required:
What voltage is do you get with a multi meter at the battery terminals when the vehicle is running. (looking to see the alternator is putting out the required voltage)

What voltage when it is not running & during cranking. (testing the quality of the battery)

Does the battery go flat overnight? What if you disconnect the battery overnight? (Looking to see if something is draining the battery when the vehicle is not running)

Alternater wont charge battery and fusable link on starter keeps burning

Bad voltage regulator. Usually built-into alternator.
Start car and unplug battery, if it dies your alternator is dead. Get new alternator. If car keeps running, get a voltmeter and check voltage coming through - should be higher than 12v but less than 18v. Any other number means your voltage regulator is dead, cheaper to get a new alternator.

I have a 1987 260e mercedes benz and i just got a new battery and its dead already

Recharge battery from home, or take battery to supplier to see if it charges, when charged check dash to see if light is on when running, if there is a red light which might be very faint, get diode replaced in alternater, (or checked to see if it is charging) (lot cheaper than buying new alternater). Which most dealers will try and sell you.

I have a 2003 ford focus zx3 my battery light comes on then the car dies, you can turn the car off and take out key and the radio will not only stay on but you can turn it on and off. I have replaced the...

In order for the alternater to charge there has to be some current in the battery; it may needan external charge boost to do the testing. Since replacements have already been made there must be an internal current drain on the battery Since the radio will not shut off this would be the most likely component to start checking. Suggest you locate and remove the appropriate fuse and see if the battery discharges after it has beencharged -up If this solves the problem then obviously the radio needs to be replaced. A test light inserted between the negative post of the battery and the negative battery cable will indicate battery drain but some is normal due to to computer keep-a- live and security systems.

Not charging

First tell me why you don't think it's charging.
Because of the voltage reading you are getting at the battery terminals? The range you want is between 13.6v to 14.2v. The higher the voltage the lower the amps. and true the other way, the lower the voltage the higher the amps. If you get a reading of 13.6v or lower, the alt is nearing or at max output. An alt can only run at maximum for around fifteen minutes and it will start slinging solder from overheating. It's a good indication the battery is either totally dead or junk. Charging above 14.2 the alternater is running wide open and is only putting out high volts which will cause the battery to boil , in turn destroying it. This is a bad alternater. All alternaters have integrated voltage regulater with the exception of ver few of the earlier ones. You cannot test an alternater by removing a battery cable to see if the engine keeps running without taking great risk of damaging the alt, regulator. So tell me why you feel it isn't charging. Remember an alt is not made to charge dead batteries. Their sole function is to maintain the battery charge. Without a battery, the alt won't last 10 seconds.
Hope to hear from you and good luck.

The alternater keeps going out. We have replaced

sometimes you are just the unlucky soul that gets bum alternators or your battery in the truck has enough juce to crank it over but is almost dead and your alternator is burning up trying to charge a battery that wont accept a decent charge. plus clean the battery terminals

The car wont take a complete charge

If able, ck the charging voltage at the battery. The alternater should be charging the battery between 13,6 to 14.2v. The lower the voltage the more its charging. Make sure both battery cables are clean and tight. Good Luck.

2006 Corolla LS battery continual drainage

difficult to accurately *****, you need to get the charging checked, even though you have a new alternater the problem could be as simple as the charging light not working, which causes the alternater to initiate. or you may have an electrical component staying on draining the battery.
