The injectors open and close to feed fuel to cylinders based on data they receive from various censors. If the wrong info is fed to the ecm, this results in the injectors opening too long or too short what ever the case may be. I had the same problem. I thought it might have been fuel lines clogged or fuel injectors. It ended up being a vacuum leak. My vacuum lines came unhooked and the main had a big crack in it. Repaired the crack and hooked the lines up and the problem went away.

Is the reserve tank cracked or have a deteriorated hose going to the radiator? Remove the tank to find out. A bad seal on the radiator cap can also lose fluid. A coolant leak anywhere can deplete the coolant level in the radiator and reserve tank. Check your owners manual for antifreeze type and mix ratio with water.
