here is some guidance, sounds like a bad connection to the car's wiring harness. go over to youtube.com and search for a video of chrysler radio removal. the 01 chryslers will all pretty much be the same and if there is a dodge or plymouth model close in appearance they will be the same as well, so keep searching. if you find one that shows you how to remove the radio, that will allow you to find the plug on the back of the radio which connects to the wiring harness, make sure it is snapped all the way in. failing that you have a more complex problem but i would start by getting another similar radio from a junkyard or eBay. once you take it out the first time, it will be easy to put in another one. the next easy step after the wiring harness connector is to ensure the radio itself is not the problem such as a bad power switch.
i had that problem before i turned the key to on and pressed the odomiter button twice and held it down it started to run through the codes and havent had a problem with it since.
