Wont Start/ Stay running

I have a 1992 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6. I have been having some trouble starting it up. Go to start it and it has no oil pressure. Put some oil in it and it starts up. Have had to do this several times. Now today it started up and was going down the road and it died on me. Now won't start at all. Even put oil in it. Any help?

Oh man, I had the same problem with a Chev Baretta. Domestic autos of those years have so many redundant systems to prevent ruining the engine. In the case of Chev, low oil pressure would shut off the fuel pump. But a bad oil pressure sensor will do the same thing, as it's giving a false pressure reading. Best advice is to get your hands on a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual for your truck and follow the trouble shooting section. Best of luck. (After much frustration I did get that sensor replaced. Drove great until the fuel pump itself quit. I left that repair to someone else. I'm not into self-immolation.)

The first thing you need is to have the unit scanned. Check things like the baro sensor, map sensor, coolant temp. and the TP sensor. Also check your fuel pressure, volume and injector spray pattern. I think you will have found your problem, but if not hit me back with engine size and any codes,Good Luck.

Sounds like you have idle air contol problem, sounds like you need your intake cleaned .Go to your local parts store and see if they have 3 step intake cleaning kit. 3M makes a kit and so does valvoline. It should contain a can of Throttle body cleaner a bottle of intake cleaner and a bottle of fuel injector cleaner that you will have to add to your fuel tank. Or you can go to your local valvoline express lube and they can perform this service for around $50.

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ?
Code 42 is a problem with the fuel pump relay or ASD relay circuit.

2001 dodge dakota will not start

Sounds like a bad battery, or bad/loose connection there. After the battery is replaced, or disconnected, it will need a little bit to relearn how to idle.
