DIYer? If not, time to take by a competent service shop, or the dealer. The 6 blink probably is an error code for a major problem. When did you last service the car according to MFG instructions? Check all fluids.

sounds more likely to be a warn sensor could be cam or crank sensor, its not being able to read engine speed to adjust time.

You've got trouble codes stored by they're most likely enhanced codes that your code reader can't read. Inexpensive code readers and only read generic trouble codes. Codes above P0800 are "enhanced" code that require a more professional scan tool to access.

First to check with OBD codes reader, this is one advise to fault; when you have this number (code) the clues for solve the problem are more.

If you mean the D4 light, blinking means that your computer believes there is a problem with the systems controlling your transmission. Your computer probably has codes related to the problem. You should connect an OBDII code reader or scanner to your DTC port (somewhere under your dashboard) and read the codes. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Autozone, or a place of the same sort, will connect their code reader and gets the codes for you without charge.
Hope this gets you started on finding out the problem.

i have found that the handas use a maintenence light as there change oil light. look in your owners manual for a reset. i would reset it and see if it comes back or go have the computer pluged in and have the code if there is one retreaved

The 'S' light is also your diagnostic indicator....so, the answer lies in the 'sequence' which the S light blinks.

Codes:

Long blinks: 1st digit
short blinks: 2nd digit

e.g.1 - if there are 6 short blinks (followed by long pause) then repeats 6 blinks again, the code = 6.

e.g.2 - if there is 1 long blink, then 4 short blinks (followed by long pause) then repeats again, the code = 14.

The ECU may show more more than one code.

It will; always do that on some vehicles, as long as it doesnt stay on for an extended period of time, i wouldnt worry about it so much.
