Fuel pump 03' pontiac grand am

My wife and I were driving and all of sudden the car started to bogg down and as she tried to accelerate the car lost all will to move. We chugged into a safe area and parked. After that the car would turn over but not start. My first thought after a minute was the fuel pump. Listening for the pump as I turned the key on, there was no sound from the tank.
After towing the car and it sitting for a day the battery went dead. I tried to jump start and for a moment I heard the pump run. The car actually started for a minute at an idle, but when I tried too accelerate it died. No sound from the pump since, and no start. Im convinced that it's the pump, but my question is, is there a censor or anything that can cause the pump to get cut off from power? Maybe a reset switch that I can't seem to find? At $250 for a pump I just want to make sure I got it right. Thanks.

Grand prix wont start after driving 30-40 miles

Could be ignition or fuel.
You would check for fuel pressure when it fails to start. The fuel pump or pump relay could be failing when hot.
Same thing with the coils and ignition module.

My 03 grand am acts like no gas and wont start.

well, something is blocking your fuel line, try replacing the fuel filter and clean the fuel pump, rust might be blocking it. if you have time try draining your fuel tank too then get rid of the rusts. this will surely help

2000 pont. grand am dies at stops and low idle

I just got done with this same problem. Check a small looped vacuum hose just behind the mass air flow sensor which is attached to the air filter housing. the hose will be toward the plenom on the right side next to a blue connector. They have a tendency of getting soft.

The solution to my problem wasnt the recurity thing ,,,,,after a few calls and having to take it to the garage for repairs,,,HAD TO CHANGE REGULATOR-FUEL LINE FILTER AND FUEL PUMP ,,,Helpfull hint ,machanic tells me u should change the fuel line filter at least once a year if u use regular gas on a regular basses. It may help this from happening again.
The security thing works like this only if you think that is the problem,,,Turn key to ACC position and leave on for 20 minutes,Than shut key off for 10 minutes, after ten minutes try to start .Hope this helps someone thanks for any help.
