The loud screeching sound is from the serpentine belt slipping over the pulleys a little. You probably got some radiator coolant on the belt or pulleys when replacing the radiator. When you connect both battery cables the alternator is trying to charge which puts a load or drag on the alternator which causes the belt to slip over the pulley enough to cause the screeching. The only way to correct this is to take the belt back off and wash it with warm soapy water to remove the coolant contamination from the belt. Then scrub the pulleys also as coolant was transferred from one pulley to another by the serpentine belt. Then replace the belt and put a little comet cleanser onto the belt to extract a little more of the contamination from the belt and pulleys before you start it up. And last but not least make sure the belt has the correct tension so as to prevent it from slipping. If you wait to long the belt will always be contaminated and forever screech. Do not buy any belt dressing for the belt. That stuff is junk and makes the rubber in the belt soft and leads to a premature belt failure.

It's in the engine compartment IOD#2. It's a black module with two fuses in it. Take that module off and replace the 20 AMP one.

the best way to look at this problem is with a12 volt test light then remove the ground cable from the battery turn every thing off inside the car close all doors and remove keys then connect testlight to battery cable and touch the test light point probe to the negitive battery post if test light lights up for more than three seconds and stays on you have draw on the system. dont panic it maybe just a glove box light or door switch. if suspect a circuit simply un hook it retest again .if you open a door that will make light test come on recheck all doors closed. if you still have test light on locate fuse box and remove one fuse at a time until test goes out while holding door switch in.when locate circut use wiring diagram to assist from ther. if the light does not light up check altenator output volt meter shoud be 13.2 -15.5 volts when running.

You need to check the battery drain. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and using a multimeter between the negative terminal of the battery and the now disconnected negative lead check the amperage which is being drawn from the battery. Your reading should settle anything between 0.03 and 0.20A but hopefully nearer the lower end. If it is above this then you will have to systematicly disconnect each electricrical item until you have a good reading. Once you have get a good reading on the multimeter you should be able have a good idea of what was causing the drain. Good luck

there would have been enough induced voltage flying back through the electrical system to keep the motor running. This is not always a good test.A little bit more explanation would be helpful.Does that check gauge remain on or off while driving normally? When it goes off or on does it do it spasmodically or does it do it until you restart the engine?Regards

My 1997 Jeep grand cherokee is running real rough when I accelerate. Now while driving it it keeps stopping but will start right back up? help???

check the cables of the spark plugs, some times it occurs that the cables get loose from its plastic retainers and touch any metal in the engine, causing missfire of the related spark plug, hence rough running of the engine. Put all cables on the retainers making sure none touches the bare metal of the engine. That should help.

How do i reset my pcm on my jeep grand cherokee?

try disconnecting the NEGATIVE cable on the battery for 10-20 minutes. re-connect it. start the vehicle and drive it for a few miles to let the pcm reset. (make sure the key is off and out, just to make sure you don't fry something when you remove the negative-black wire cable!!). don't short it against the positive-red!
make sure the negative connector (on the cable) is isolated from the frame, or it will still be grounded! wrap some plastic around it, or something!
good luck!

Transfer case knocking

These transfer cases do not have plastic pumps. Do have the transfer case looked at by Jeep tech, it could be as simple as an adjustment on the lever.
