Horn stays on,fuses ok

You can pull the fuse, disconnect the horn relay, or unplug the horn itself.

Should be clear that the problem is in the steering column horn mechanism, but to fix it you will need to remove the air bag.. Are you competent to do that safely?

What year is it? If it is a newer truck there is a reset procedure that is required to be done. It is a fairly simple proceedure and can be found in the owners manual. You turn the key on and step on the brake pedal three times then turn the key off and step on the brake pedal three times, then turn the key on, The horn will chirp if the mode has been entered. Starting at the RF tire start letting air out, the horn will chirp indicating to move to the next tire (RF,RR,LR,LF). when all sensors have been accepted turn the key off and the horn will chirp twice. With the key off set the pressures to the factory specs (located in the door jamb or fuel filler cover) and you should be set. If when going through this procedure and it fails to indicate by a horn chirp one of the tires, that will be the one with a bad sensor.

check the reley and the horn is pluged in also it might even be in the styering wheel that the wire is disconected if you had an air bag deployment

Here is an idea, when do you blow the fuse key on, key on engine running, key on engine running hitting the break pedal? Try and get the key on without blowing fuse if possible, then one at a time try those circuit loads ie: horn, brake pedal and so on, if you isolate which load is pulling to many amps(blowing fuse) unplug that load itself, then restart testing, see if fuse stays ok. You can also substitue the fuse with a circuit breaker and unplug each load until click(of breaker) stops.

What your hearing is the factory alarm not the horn. Connect the battery when the alarm sounds go to the drivers door lock with the key and lock and unlock the door until the alarm goes off . Then reinstall the fuse for the horn.,

I have the identical problem with the horn. I removed the horn fuse. The horn is linked to the air bag and cruise control and will have to be taken to a dealer I am told as my regular mechanic won't touch it. Apparently the whole steering unit may have to be replaced after a "diagnosis". I now have no horn. And no bill to pay..

check the horn relay # 25 ; located underhood in the fuse and relay box.

A fuse always blows for a reason. The reason your fuse must have blown was because of a short to ground in the horn switch. That means the power side of the horn switch is currently touching ground or metal or that the switch is bad on the inside. The more remote possiblity is that you have a short somewhere in the wiring harness. It is always typical for a component to go bad before a harness.

Testing and Inspection Notes WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR-BAGS, REFER TO AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS/AIRBAGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Remove the lower steering column cover/knee blocker. Check for continuity between the metal steering column jacket and a good ground. There should be continuity If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering Column and check for proper installation of the steering column mounting nuts.
2. Remove the driver's airbag module. Unplug the horn switch wire connector. Remove the horn relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) . Check for continuity between the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire connector and a good ground. There should be no continuity If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, repair the short circuit as required.
3. Check for continuity between the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire connector and the horn relay control circuit cavity for the horn relay in the PDC. There should be continuity If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the open circuit as required.
4. Check for continuity between the horn switch feed wire and the horn switch ground wire on the airbag module. There should be no continuity If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, replace the faulty horn switch.
5. Depress the center of the airbag module cover and check for continuity between the horn switch feed wire and the horn switch ground wire on the airbag module. There should be continuity If not OK, replace the faulty horn switch.

press and hold trip reset cycle key 3 on off on off on to run self test se if it gives an error code in odometer.
