The lock for the rear window is in "locked" position and will not allow rear window to close and lock. I have triedall combos on the key fob, and interior lock/unlock combinations, as well as opening/closing the rear door dozens of times, have even driven around a few miles, stopped, locked/unlocked again. Can't figure this one out.
Please Help !! Sheila
I was having the same type of problem. we just put a couple of washers behind the latch and then adjusted the latch and it solved our problem.
If the latch is stuck in the up position, you can get a long flathead screwdriver and push down the lower metal latch behind the main metal bracket to get it to release. This problem is caused by the release motor (small black switch that pushes down on the metal release) losing it's strength. I haven't replaced mine because I can close it and plan on trading in my 2002 Jeep Liberty for a used truck sometime in the near future. Both rear window regulators are temp fixed as well because I'm not paying for something that will break again.
Rear door of my 2002 liberty will not unlock . I do not have power locks $

bay window stays open, same problem
I have the same problem but the way I get around it, is by using the glass release button on your automatic door opener, if you have one, it will release the latch, I figured that out when I was in desperate mode. Good Luck!

I also have the same problem with no solution. I'm tired of using tape. About the same time, both of my rear window regulators went out. I'm just convinced that Jeep Liberties are just poorly built cars.
i have the same problem. key fob doesnt open it either...
