2002 Jeep Liberty, rear window latch is ''locked'' & window is open

The lock for the rear window is in "locked" position and will not allow rear window to close and lock. I have triedall combos on the key fob, and interior lock/unlock combinations, as well as opening/closing the rear door dozens of times, have even driven around a few miles, stopped, locked/unlocked again. Can't figure this one out.

Please Help !! Sheila

bay window stays open, same problem

I have the same problem but the way I get around it, is by using the glass release button on your automatic door opener, if you have one, it will release the latch, I figured that out when I was in desperate mode. Good Luck!

I also have the same problem with no solution. I'm tired of using tape. About the same time, both of my rear window regulators went out. I'm just convinced that Jeep Liberties are just poorly built cars.

I was having the same type of problem. we just put a couple of washers behind the latch and then adjusted the latch and it solved our problem.

If the latch is stuck in the up position, you can get a long flathead screwdriver and push down the lower metal latch behind the main metal bracket to get it to release. This problem is caused by the release motor (small black switch that pushes down on the metal release) losing it's strength. I haven't replaced mine because I can close it and plan on trading in my 2002 Jeep Liberty for a used truck sometime in the near future. Both rear window regulators are temp fixed as well because I'm not paying for something that will break again.

The rear window on my 2002 jeep libert keeps poping open, when I pit it in drive.

lubricate the lock mechanism on the inside of the jeep and the lock key hole and with PB blaster --wait 15 minutes --try it then ?

No ---Replace the lock --$10.00 junk yard or up to 30 parts store or more for dealer unless under warranty --co pay = usual 50 if you had enough coverage --call the dealer in advance if you go that route --if you must ---It's a GM get used to it

2003 Jeep Liberty Limited Glass Latch will not move on own.

Hello and welcome the problem is very simple to resolve first make sure you have battery power turn off vehicle open rear gate unlock doors go to rear gate and look at lock unlock again and push the Grey plastic lock trigger mechanism forward towards front glass close gate unlock again make sure lock is still in the position you just set it to and close glass it will the lock. Normally what happens in this situation was power was removed from your jeep and the rear gate was opened with no power running to electric lock so it stays in a set position you cannot lock the glass because there was no power in the electric lock I will lock once you reset it Hope this help. Rear window will not close

use small box wrench and remove the catch attached to the window. insert 2 washers over each of the 2 connecting bolts ..4 washers required min 2 per side. re attach window catch. This should move the catch forward ehough to depress the locking mechanism.... it worked perfect on my 02 Liberty.

Rear door lock keeps clicking and I cannot open rear door. Power lock has drained my battery so I am charging it now. I have pulled the power lock fuseto stop power lock but what do I do to fx it.

there is a small plastic access door in the interior just opposite the rear door handle. Pry that open with a flat screwdriver and reach as far as you can towards the passenger side (staying the same level as the access door). There is a small light switch shaped lever that will release the lock and allow it to be opened from the outside.
