HOW TO OPEN 2008 CHEV EQUINOX HOOD LATCH IS NOT WORKING

those are cable operated if it's broke at the lever in the car find the cable end and pull it with a pliers, if it's broke at the release under the hood it's going to a little harder you will have to get up under the hood and manually release the hood before you can replace the release lever

if the cable is not broken then pull the release then take the side of your fist and pound on the hood starting towards the top drivers side and slowly move towards the latch try it a few times i have to do this every single time on my blazer

if you reach up just behind the grill under the car you should see the wire that the hood latch is on just pull that to the drivers side and it should pop open make sure your fingers are not in the way i can tell you it hurts lol

You'll have to remove part of the grill and try to access the latch from inside. Yoy may have to unbolt the entire thing, but make sure you mark it 1st so that you know how to put it back in the EXACT spot it came from. Then once out, you can extracate it from the latch pin on the hood, replace your cable and start fresh. Good luck, this is one of those things that no matter how long you've been working on cars, its always hard to do!

is the latch from the interor car broken, or the locking mechenism to release the hood not working?

Either way its a simple fix just requires the hoot to be open.
